Sol's Ponies is a local family run riding school, located in Shaw, Oldham. With the school being the name sake of Sollia, our riding instructor. Sollia is supported by her mum Angela, who looks after all the paperwork and mans the office. While Edward, Sollia's younger brother maintain's the yard and carry's on improving our facilities. We are lucky to be located at the bottom of the Pennine Moors

, so have some glorious hack's out with picturesque views. If you are looking to get away from it all and let the breeze sooth your mind then definatley book onto one of our pleasure rides. Or may be you are returning to riding after a long break, why not try our 30 minute lessons to refresh those parts of the body we forgot we had. Trust me our 50 minute lessons would certainly remind your of your muscles, so slow it down, take it easy remember slow and steady wins the race. For the little one's there is so much to mention, I wont bore you, instead read on, check us out, see if anything pops out at you. This year is all about getting our name out there and giving our riders the best opportunities… this year I am going to be offering ridden experience for people off the Sols Ponies site and it will be offered to anyone who shows hard work and determination in their riding lessons or around the yard. It will be given to different riders each time to ensure everyone gets equal opportunities. If your child would be interested in these activities please do discuss with our instructor Sol 🙌

Merry Christmas 2024 to everyone past, present and potential future clients. We appreciate every single person who has stood by us & chosen us for their riding lessons. People who turn up in all weathers. None horsey parents who have got stuck in to give their children the best education on horsemanship & riding lessons. Watching our staff, riders & horses grow as the Sols Ponies Community has makes me feel so so blessed.

All lessons are cancelled as ridden work and we are going to put on alternative work in the classroom & stable management. Please wear suitable footwear as it is slippery. If you do wish to cancel then the cancellation policy is in place and you will loose your lesson.

* DECEMBER BOOKINGS & OPENINGS *

Our Christmas calendar for bookings is written below:

Monday riders:
2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th lessons as usual. Times can be moved to suite family commitments if discussed early enough.

Tuesday loaners:
3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st. Times will change due to them being around Christmas but notice will be given.

Wednesday loaners:
4th, 11th, 18th, 25th. Times will change due to them being around Christmas but notice will be given.

Thursday riders:
5th, 12th, 19th. Times can be changed to accommodate family commitments as long as discussed early enough.

Friday we remain closed for the horses to rest.

Saturday riders & pony club riders:
7th, 14th, 21st, 28th as usual.

Sunday riders & pony club riders:
1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th as usual.

We are going to do a Boxing Day hack out like we always do weather permitting for riders who can ride off the lead rein. Fancy dress can be worn as long as it is Christmas themed.

Loaners are still expected to pay and attend to their loan pony regardless of family commitments unless extreme illness or circumstances occur. Ponies are a life long commitment & not just when it suites.

PONY MORNING

On Saturday & Sunday mornings we have a pony club at 10 AM - 12 PM. This is for our riders who have some experience around horses but would like to gain more with the help of our wonderful staff. We cover all equestrian topics from stable management, Grooming, Tacking up, Feeding & so much more. All riders also get a 30 min group lesson or hack included in the price. We do regular assessments every 6 months to ensure all our riders are progressing & are working towards targets and achieving.

* POLE/JUMPING LESSON * This lesson will be for riders who are red/orange on our colour achievement chart. We aim to do 45 mins ridden with a 15 mins to set up the arena & the horses. We aim to work on creating rhythm and balance going into poles and fences. It is on Sunday 25th August 2-3 PM. Pre booking and payment is required with limited spaces. Starting the Summer holidays with one of my main girls & our ponies from Sols ponies. Of course we stopped at the shay wake for tea and a drink 🥃 Bring on the summer with my team 🩷

* WEEKEND OFFER * Our £10 !!! 30 mins Hacks are available this weekend as a limited special offer. These are suitable for riders who have passed taster lessons with us. If you’d like to book this please do contact the office on 07377915738.

* LAST MINUTE CANCELLATION * Tomorrow we have a lesson at 3 PM on Sunday that has come available for someone to take. If you would like a Riding assessment, Private or Semi private lesson then please do contact us on 07377915738 ASAP. Payment secures this slot.

Tomorrow we have show jumping practise with our instructor Sol. All places have been filled & we have had zero cancellations. Please ensure your child brings with them: Drinks, Suitable clothing and footwear, Hair tied back, Gloves and a body protector. If you need to borrow a body protector then we do have some that can be borrowed please ask staff to help with this. Please note staff will be filming this session for our social media team to use for future advertising. We aim to do a few practise rounds, then a clear round with the fastest time will win a prize 🤩 Many Thanks, Sollia & Team.
