Super little Sid on his first ever session dealing with his dog reactivity. Daily walks had become a dread for his owners as they struggled with him barking & lunging at other dogs. He would even occasionally become so agitated he would redirect & bite the lead or his owners legs! Sid’s owners thankfully reached out for help & with a full behavioural assessment it was determined that Sid’s behaviour was caused by frustration & he is not actually dog aggressive. Sid’s owners have now began our behaviour modification programme & have already noticed how much calmer he was on the first walk! 🌟👏🏻

Handsome man Digby had his first session on reactivity a month ago as a foster dog & here he is on his second session, now officially adopted by his fosterers! 🥹❤️ He has made such amazing progress in a month, he no longer barks & lunges with frustration when seeing other dogs, his confidence has grown massively & he has even managed to bag himself his very own forever home!
Huge well done to his humans too for putting in lots of hard work! 👏🏻

Lovely Nelly the cocker spaniel on her first session dealing with resource guarding. Nelly would guard furniture, food, toys & even socks from the other dog in the household, causing a lot of distress for all involved. Fortunately we were able to step in & help Nelly before this behaviour progressed any further with a bespoke behaviour modification programme.

Rhona (white dog) playing with another dog for the first time in years!
Lovely Rhona is a Romanian rescue that struggled with severe reactivity towards other dogs. Walks had become stressful for her & her owners had to avoid all other dogs best they could.
Now, Rhona can calmly walk past other dogs in close proximity & here she is on her third session enjoying off-lead socialisation with my therapy dog Gus! We are elated for Rhona & her extremely dedicated owners that put in lots of vital practice between sessions!
Rhona has officially graduated & although we will miss her, we couldn’t be happier for her! ⭐️

Lovely Lucy had her second session today & from her first one 3 weeks ago she is almost unrecognisable! She no longer pulls on the lead, her confidence has grown, she is more engaging with her owner in busy environments & she is less nervous of other dogs 🌟

Well done Lucy & her incredibly dedicated owners.. amazing progress ❤️🐾🐶

💖 ROSIE 💖

Beautiful Rosie had a terrible start in life so much so that she was left absolutely traumatised & abandoned in a stray dog pound before being rescued by her saviours at Helping Yorkshire Poundies - HYPS. From there she was lucky enough to be adopted by her forever family who cherish her just like she has always deserved. I recently had the pleasure of a training session with Rosie to build her confidence in the outside world and ease her anxieties naturally and holistically.

First place for the best puppy eyes… 😍🥇

This little fella had a recent session on resource guarding! Dogs can guard any resource of value to them such as food, toys, furniture, space & even people! A common breed trait seen with Cocker Spaniels but resource guarding can affect any breed and that’s why it’s important to take the necessary steps in preventing this behaviour in our dogs.
We worked in some behaviour modification for this client so that from now on meal times can be a lot less stressful ⭐️

Merlin the Cockapoo had a session on recall & we even worked in some distraction for him in the form of Gus! Other dogs are one of the biggest distractions on walks and often lead to failures in recall. I often hear from my clients “my dogs recall is good unless there’s something going on!” It’s important to get your dogs recall on form as one day it could quite literally save their life! 🐶

🌼 Gorgeous Daisy here is a recently adopted rescue dog that I had the pleasure of working with in her new home. Daisy had settled in so well but needed help with lead training & reactivity towards other dogs. Daisy would become excited & then frustrated when seeing other dogs on her lead as she couldn’t get to them.
A well socialised dog is a dog that can be neutral around people & dogs. Being over-stimulated by the anticipation of interacting with every dog & person creates too much arousal & is a fast pass to creating a problem. We should prioritise that meeting new people & dogs does not always mean interacting with them. Building engagement with you out of the house is vital.
Despite a rough start in life, Daisy has a confident, resilient & forgiving temperament.
Her new owners are dedicated to building a strong bond & providing her the life she has always deserved and it is a privelidge for me to be part of their journey 💕

My recent client Percy - still looking for his forever home! He has an amazing character & would make the perfect lap dog 🥰❤️

Percy is (amazingly) still looking for the right home 🎃 He is adorable and such a little sweetheart … he can be a sensitive little man and is reactive to dogs on his walks, BUT, he can live with another friendly female dog (no males), and also possibly a cat 😺🎃

We really hope he isn’t overlooked for being reactive, but equally please only apply if you can commit to him and understand that walks in busy areas are just too much for him - he is having training for his reactivity, but it is NOT a quick fix 🎃🤎🎃

SEEING TRIPLE! 🐾❤️😍

Recently I had the pleasure of training not 1, not 2 but 3 gorgeous labradors! Having a multi-dog household can be hard at times so a good basis of training makes life just that little bit easier! These boys were an absolute dream to train, the hardest part was telling the 2 youngsters apart & trying not to sneak one home in my car with me! 🖤

A few weeks ago I volunteered to take a very sad sick puppy, Lyla to the vets her face had swollen to double in size which had been left untreated for a very long time & she was very weak. The half an hour journey was torture & at every traffic lights I held my breath to see if I could still hear her breathing from the boot. 😢 I carried her in & the vet said it would be possible she wouldn’t make it 💔
But I’m so relieved to say she did! She fought so hard & had to have a long stay in the vets on a drip, scans and an operation but made a full recovery.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of a training session with Lyla in her foster home & she was almost unrecognisable. Thanks to Helping Yorkshire Poundies - HYPS for saving Lyla’s life & sparing no expense to do so, like so many others & her amazing foster parents who are doing such a brilliant job bringing up a now happy healthy pup & teaching her to trust us humans despite her past.

Winston on his recent session focusing on his noise sensitivity. Fireworks, traffic, gunshots, motorbikes can all cause anxiety & have a profound effect on your dogs daily life.

High fives are well deserved for Merlin! 🙌🏻

I was called to help with Merlin as he was very fearful of leaving the house for a walk or even going in the garden. After assessing Merlin I realised he had an extreme case of noise phobia & even light traffic would set off his anxiety & loud sounds such as motorbikes would almost send him in to shut down. Merlins anxiety was so bad that as soon as his lead was picked up he would run, hide & shake with fear. This was very distressing for him & his owners. So we created a plan of action to build Merlin’s confidence & de-sensitise him to certain sounds.
I returned a month later for a second session & Merlin came straight out to have his lead clipped on ready for a walk & was out the door! Merlin had a couple of moments on the walk where he became worried but with the our support & direction he recovered quickly & set off again.
Merlin’s owners have dedicated so much time & patience to his rehabilitation & are overjoyed with his progress already! This case really touched my heart & is one I’m very proud of for all involved. 💙

For Ambers second session we focused on her barrier reactivity in the car. Dogs naturally have territorial instincts & can sometimes lunge, bark or growl when behind a barrier such as a kennel, garden fence, gate or window at a perceived threat. We worked on some behaviour modification training for Amber whilst in the car - so car journeys can be a little more peaceful & less noisy for all involved.

🤎 Enzo 🤎

Enzo is an 11 month old bully who was adopted by a lovely family a month ago. Adopting a rescue dog is not always easy (but worth it) - as we don’t always know exactly what they’ve experienced in the past.
One thing Enzo hasn’t been taught in the past however is the off switch. Whenever Enzo’s energy or environment builds up & becomes excitable for him, he struggles to self regulate & this quickly turns into repeatedly jumping up, mouthing at arms or picking up any inanimate object he can get his paws on. We are setting the foundations on building Enzo’s capability to calm himself & stop these unwanted behaviours.

P.s One thing Enzo has been taught - how to strike a pose 😍

🐾 STAN 🐾

Lovely lurcher Stan has had 2 sessions working on his dog reactivity when out walking. Stan is also very noise sensitive to motorbikes & tractors.
Stan managed walking in the same field as my dog Gus on his second session & was in a much better state of mind, sniffing & taking it all in! Before he would be so stressed he would literally be chattering his teeth & didn’t sniff at all as he was in survival mode not in thinking brain to absorb any of the information from sniffing! On the walk home he even managed to not react to a motorbike going past for the first time in years. 👏🏻 Very proud of Stan & his dedicated owners!

✨ Can you guess what breed Meg is? ✨

Meg had her first session today working on lead reactivity as she quickly became overwhelmed at just the sight of another dog & would begin barking & lunging immediately.

So we started building the foundations towards a much calmer & balanced walk for Meg. Meg exceeded our expectations & even managed to walk beside my dog Gus & sit comfortably in his presence whilst myself & her owner had a chat (stopping on a walk for a conversation with anybody was out of the question before). Well done Meg & her owners for putting in the hard work 👏🏻

🐶 Winston 🐶

Handsome chap Winston had a training session yesterday. In typical bulldog style he had got in to the habit of anchoring himself down on a walk & refusing to move when it was home time🤣
We focused on some lead training & he did so well he worked up quite a thirst, so had to stop for a quick refreshment from his bottle 🍼😍

For Milo’s second session we had to bring in the big guns (Gus the Pom)🤣❤️
We’ve been working on Milo’s recall so we thought we’d take things up a notch and work in some distraction in the form of my own dog, Gus!
Other dogs are normally a huge distraction for recall & so many break it because the other dog is more exciting - so we have to work on strengthening our recall & make coming back worthwhile for our dogs.
Milo did very well & as a reward enjoyed some off lead socialisation with Gus, which is absolutely essential for a pups social development 🐶🐾

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with Rebus! 🖤
He is an absolutely gorgeous standard schnauzer & a show champion in multiple countries 😍 Rebus has landed on his feet in a great home & has loved life in the countryside for the last 6 months.
However recently he started to become a little reactive towards other dogs when out on his walks so I was contacted to help & Rebus did so well & even managed to walk past 2 dogs without reacting! Well done Rebus 🥰👏🏻⭐️

Amber had her first session yesterday with us on her 3rd birthday… happy birthday Amber! 🥳🎉
Amber saw red when seeing other dogs on the lead & is nervous of some people. A scenario we’re seeing all too often with lockdown dogs! 😔
Her owner was conscious of Ambers anxiety in public places & wanted to get her being the 55kg love bug she is at home when she’s out & about too ☺️

✨ Marvellous Max ✨

Max is a staffy currently in a foster home with his very dedicated & patient foster parents! Max has been a faithful companion from the get-go but once he got his paws under the table 🐾 he became reactive to other dogs out on a walk & would be very distressed at the mere sight of a dog from a distance! 😔 So… his rescue (Helping Yorkshire Poundies) asked me to step in & help Max so he could get back to enjoying his walks!
Look at the difference in Max in one session! 😍 This is the very busy Locke Park in Barnsley & Max walked past other dogs without reacting! His fosterers before would normally avoid busy areas like this as they were triggering for Max but now here he is in a much better state of mind already - we can’t wait to see his progress! 🐶

Rescue dogs aren’t always easy but they are ALWAYS worth it! 💙

Yesterday I got a serious case of puppy love for… Milo! 💛🐶

Milo is a 6 month old Labrador puppy who came for some basic training. Milo has an amazing temperament but could be a typical mischievous pup at times. 🙊
His owners were told he would “grow out” of certain undesirable behaviours which is not the case so they decided to get some training in now whilst he’s young! Which is absolutely amazing, the earlier you can start training - the better! ⭐️

We prioritised teaching recall, drop & stay. These 3 skills can save a dogs life so are an absolute must! ✅

Milo exceeded all expectations & left his owners in shock of how well he did! 🤣 Can’t wait for our next session 😊🐾💛
