I absolutely love to see dogs natural instincts come through in their behaviour. It’s such a privilege to see different dog breeds act out their individual characteristics specific to their breed.
Here’s Skipper the boarder collie displaying his true nature of herding, stalking and chasing. He might not be rounding up sheep but just look at the way he moves and interact with this stick.
Even with the annoyance of Teddy pestering him, he is lazar focused on the task at hand. What a dog. I love to see dogs working like this, practicing their natural instincts, whether that be herding, flushing out birds, hunting game, tracking a scent or animals, working and guarding. I want a working dog!

Happy hump day or is it jump day? 😂
Here is Merlin the cockapoo and Tony the Irish Terrier enjoying the heather up in Lady Cannings MTB
The days are a lot colder now but as long as the sun is shining, then we’re all happy.
Who else’s dog plays in the heather like this?
Have a great week from all of us at JJ’s K-9’s

Building Teddy’s recall
Happy Friday everyone. We’ve had lots of fun this morning. Working with 6 month old Teddy to improve his recall. Best way I’ve found to do this is through turning this command into a game. With the help of my mum we created a game which Teddy absolutely loves. Easy to do, here’s how to play. Have yourself and another person 10-20m apart to start with and call your dog over and when they arrive reward them with lots of praise and a treat. (Food or toy)
Then your partner calls the dog back, continue this back and forth game and slowly increase the distance. I recommend to have your dog on a longline lead as you do this for extra safety and in the beginning to have minimal distractions around you and of course to do this in a safe environment.
Recall is one of the most important commands to master with your dog. This can literally be a life saving command for your dog. It keeps your dog safe and protects others around you. Master your recall! you can practice this everyday for 10 to 20’mins. Remember to make it fun. Hope this helps.
Happy weekend from us at JJ’s K9’s. Yesterday was a very wet and muddy walk but the dogs absolutely loved it. I think today is going to be the same haha. Have a great weekend everyone. #dogswelcomehere #dogswelcome #dogwalker #muddypaws #muddywalks #dogwalkingservices #dogwalklife

Wild Wednesdays. Dogs are born to run, some better than others of course but they all need the opportunity for a good run. It’s such a pleasure to see dogs fully expressing them selves through running. Many people call it zoomies 😂 I absolutely love to see dogs at their happiest, doing what they love to do. Spaces available for more dogs to join the ever growing JJ’s K-9 pack. #zoomies #dogwalkerlife #dogsforlife #mansbestfriend #fastdogs #dogwalkinglife
August has been a busy month. Hard work at times, but I’ve loved it all. Here’s a few short clips of some of the K-9s I’ve had the pleasure of working with and caring for this past month. #JJsK9s
Happy Friday. I think these two girls are excited it’s the weekend.
It’s always a joy to see dogs playing like this. I think it’s fair to say it was a draw 😂

It’s a spectacle to see dogs do what they do best, seeing a whippet running at full tilt in an open field is definitely one to witness.

Hello to all dog lovers, owners and guardians and care givers! This is an important message to you!
Keep your dog safe while you are enjoying the gorgeous weather. Dogs do not cope as well as we do in this heat.
So it’s our responsibility, our duty to make sure that we are still meeting their basic needs while also keeping them safe in high temperatures.
Tips.
Do Not leave your dog in the car for long periods of time even if the windows are open.
Check the pavement if it’s too hot for you it’s too hot for your dog.
Stick to early morning and late evening walks as it’s cooler.
Stick to wooded areas if you have to walk in the middle of the day.
Try to be around water, rivers and lakes where possible.
Always bring water on your walks.
Hope this helps. Enjoy the sunshine and remember to keep your dog safe.
