Happy Sunday people. I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting recently, and a lady asked me the other week how much experience do you have being around dogs?

So I said, with a smile on my face. Best part of 30 years love! I had a break from working with them directly for a number of years in that time but overall I’ve not stopped having them be a part of my life.

The first picture is me back in 1996 with my mums dog Oscar, the giant springer spaniel. When I first started talking my first word was Oscar and this was the dog I grew up with before getting my first official dog of my own, Shadow the flat coat retriever.

Through growing up with dogs, owning dogs and working in various kennels and dog rescues to spending time with friends dogs, it’s safe to say I’m very comfortable with them even the dogs in the rescue when some given the chance in the wrong situation would have bitten me, even then it’s never put me off owning or being around and working with these incredible animals.

I’m just as passionate and fascinated about them now as I was then. In a lot of ways dogs have helped me as much, if not more than I am helping them now.

It’s never a dull moment living or working with dogs! The joy they bring far out weighs the chaos they can bring in to our lives 😜

I’ll forever love and be in aura of our 4 legged companions and the more I spend time with them the more I want to understand and help these amazing creatures in the best way I can.

For those who have a dog remember they are only a part of our lives but we are their entire life so do the best by them!

Here’s to man’s best friend!

Happy hump day guys.

I feel like a massive cloud has been lifted. Months of constant pain and discomfort dealing with one of the most annoying and frustrating injuries I’ve had in years.

Back in the beginning of December I had an accident which left me with cracked ribs and two tears in my right shoulder (my dominant side of course)
As you can imagine having this sort of injury in my line of work is not ideal.

Now I’m not gonna bore you with the details of how painful and hard it’s been physically to still work and do what I’ve done during the last few months and honestly it’s been even harder mentally. It’s tested me everyday and in all aspects, not only my business/work life but personal life as well.

After seeing some absolute wizards in the world of rehabilitation I’ve now got real clarity on what damage has been done and more importantly support and guidance to get back to full strength now it’s down to me to put in the work to get myself back to full strength now. Baby steps in the beginning to build a solid foundation, a launch pad to sky rocket me to being back as fit and strong as I was when I competed in hyrox. Ultimately I want to go beyond this!

Through the pain, the struggle, the frustration and worry of needing surgery its sparked that fire in me again! Just like 10 years ago when I had to learn how to walk again after being stabbed. The fire is back and the grind to recover is underway! In a way the hardest part is over now it’s time to do what needs to be done!

I need this more than ever not only for myself but also for the dogs. It can be hard work and I always try my best for them so in order to keep up with these little rascals I need to be on top form physically mentally and emotionally.

For anyone right now who’s struggling with an injuries or currently enduring hardship right now! Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. Bite down on that gum shield and keep showing up. Get the support you need. Talk to the right people. Make a plan and execute. You can do this!

Lastly just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who is a part of my recovery and to all my wonderful clients too.

Happy weekend to you all.

I’ve not posted in quite a while, it’s been a very busy time with lots and lots of ups and downs.

But here is a very big up! JJ’s K9’s is going from strength to strength, the demand is ever increasing which I am truly grateful for and I really appreciate everyone who’s supporting me and a big appreciation to all the owners and their amazing dogs that have joined the JJ’s K9 family.

It’s been a real struggle and relentless effort keeping up with the ever growing demand for my services, so I’m really happy to announce that the JJ’s K9’s team has grown.

Introducing Paul and Simon who have joined the team at JJ’s K9’s and have been working along side me since August and now have been taking small packs of dogs out since October.

Both Paul and Simon are fully insured under the same insurance company as myself and both have an up to date DBS checks, along with a certificate in Canine First Aid.
With plans for further learning coming soon.

As you can see the dogs have taken to them both and love getting out for a good walk no matter what the weather throws at us.

I’m very grateful for these two lads, now we are welcoming more dogs to join our pack walks and join in on the fun.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Dubrovnik, Croatia you have a special place in my heart. What a place! So peaceful, chilled vibes and a beautiful place to explore. I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t been yet. It’s a must visit.

Memories for ever and I’ll certainly be going again.

I’ve come back feeling more creative, more relaxed, more positive and a fresh perspective on life and of myself and more determined than ever before to succeed.

See you next time.

A whole year working with dogs and I can’t be more grateful for the time spent with these incredible creatures. So much more experience gained, more lessons learnt from working with these amazing animals, in fact they have helped teach me more about myself.

I have learnt a lot from them in ways that have helped me become a better version of myself through the way they are by nature. They remind me to be more patient and compassionate towards myself and to live in the present moment just to name a few ways.

Here’s our Minnie, a whippet like no other. She was the first ever dog I had stay at mine last June and still stays with me now! a whole year on.

I knew quite a lot about the breed but didn’t have a large amount of experience with them in person. Until I looked after Minnie, true to her breeds characteristics she’s a true hunter anything small and fluffy that runs is fair game to her. Very loving and affectionate with us. Full of personality and charm and surprisingly greedy, I mean really greedy. Labrador greedy.

She’s helped me better understand whippets more than any course, book or video on the breed ever will and for that I will be forever grateful. She’s an amazing dog and we have bonded so much over this past year, so much so that if she see me while she is out with her owner she’ll clear the full length of a field to say hello. To me, that is priceless and I’ll always be thankful for her. To Minnie the whippet. What a dog. Can’t wait to see you next week!

Happy Friday!

It’s been a very busy few months!

Demand is high, dogs are challenging and learning all the time.

I absolutely love what I do and I have a lot more exciting things to come working with dogs!

Time to start building a team to take things to the next level. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this past year! I still can’t believe I’m only one year into this new journey. I’m very grateful.

Here’s a few pics over the past few months of some of the dogs from JJ’s K9’s pack. Loving life and just being a dog!

I feel I had good preparation for pulling the sled in my last hyrox competition. This is how it feels holding on to the huskies when a squirrel runs across our path. I’m sure they do it on purpose because they know the dogs are on a lead 😂

Happy Friday! These four doggos definitely have that Friday feeling!

A tired dog is a happy dog! Especially when they’re exercised in a pack of other like minded dogs.

Happy Friday everyone.
I’m grateful for the time off that I’ve had and I definitely got the mental break I needed (not a physical break though 😅) that will have to wait, but I’ve definitely missed being out and about with the dogs!

Here’s to another great weekend, keep smiling and stay active with your four legged friends 🐶

Something that is more apparent than ever for me this year!

Running is hard. Not being able to run is harder.

Getting into the gym to get stronger is hard. Being weak is harder.

Personal growth and healing is hard. Staying stuck and in a fix mindset is harder.

Discipline is hard. Paying the price for lack of discipline is harder.

Pushing through adversity is hard. Continuing to live in the vicious cycle that keeps you trapped is harder.

My point is, life is hard. Choose your hard wisely and find meaning in what you do what ever that may be for you.

15/04/2024

Well what can I say about this one!

I can’t quite believe it to be honest. 16 weeks ago I set out to train hard for this competition to beat my previous time of 1 hour 23 mins.

Unfortunately the training didn’t take priority and I had a lot against me going to this hyrox competition.

Building my new business took over, it’s really taken off which is amazing but along with that comes a lot of stress and a lot of long hours of work.

I trained when I could but they were far a few between and with hyrox being 60% running, and I only did 2 or 3 weeks out of the 16 worth of running definitely didn’t help my confidence going into this one.

Nothing was optimal through this process, sleep could of been better, nutrition could of been better and I could of done without a seemingly endless niggles and pains. There were moments I wanted to pull out and not run but this year is all about following through with what I say I’m going to do and sticking it out until the very end when I set myself challenges like this!

It’s been chaos building up to the race day feeling burnt out and restless wasn’t the plan but the show must go on. You have to dig deep and find that inner strength that pushes you through adversity, pain, set backs and unforeseen circumstances and just get it done!

I’m very proud to say despite everything I did BEAT my time and finished the race in 1 hour 21 minutes.

The secret…. Stopped drinking for 98 days (so far) and walk dogs for 10 miles a day for 5 to 7 days a week for 4 months straight.

I’ve learnt lots, lots to improve on and I’m Very grateful and hugely pleased that I pushed through and actually beat my time. Big congratulations to Ollie and Will who also ran and smashed their times as well.

I’m definitely not the fitness man on the planet but I do reckon I’m the fitness dog Walker in all of South Yorkshire 😂

On to the next. Let’s go Babi.
Back to the dogs on Wednesday 🐕🐶

Here he is. This is little tank is Pepper, a proper frenchie with a massive personality. Today was his second week with JJ’s K9’s pack walks and he’s fitted in straight away. He’s a great addition to the pack welcome to the family Pepper.

Ps he is the fastest frenchie I have ever seen😂
