Due to demand... it's here!

I'm now taking bookings for 2025. There's a few things I ask though...

Bookings made by phone call or in person is much preferred. Messages - I'll get an awful lot & especially if you're making multiple, it'll take me a long time to get through them all. That's not saying I'll not take bookings that way but it's just way easier and quicker for me to do it when I see you or by phone.

As always, I have my holiday time booked off for the first three months of the year already, so all bookings for then will be fine. April onwards, I will need time off but I won't know exactly when until nearer the time so any bookings made for after then will be subject to change. For those of you that book the year through, please bare this in mind.

Me and Natalie are be back in America in September for two weeks, and probably something else earlier in the summer and also November.Other than that, I'm good!

Last thing to say on availability, I've got less than ten appointments left in 2024, all in late Oct / early Nov. Fully booked for December but I'm got a waiting list for cancellations if you want to be on it.

As you know, I get 'full in reverse' towards the end of the year, December was fully booked by about March this year, and late November is now too. The 'nearest to Christmas' availability I currently have is the 18th - 21st November.

So I suppose I don't share that many pictures of my work, I've just looked back through my posts from the last year or so and I'm gonna reshare some of these all in one post. Most of them are before & afters and there's a few that's just the finished groom picture.

No short haired dogs here, only reason being that these do not demonstrate grooming ability. No filters either, and none of that 'blurring out of the majority of the picture' rubbish so that you can't see how well (or not) the legs & feet are scissored, ha!

So today, Wooldale Dog Grooming is EIGHTEEN years old!

This year also marks my 24th year professionally working with dogs. The passion is still there, I'm still putting the hours in, loving it as much as ever & very definitely appreciating you lot for giving me the life I'm able to have.

And it wouldn't be a Wooldale birthday without breaking out these bad boy 2007 pictures.

Rant alert...

Someone has just come into the shop to ask me if I'm closing down because 'someone said so'. WHAT?! Is this because I've been away for two weeks? May I add, my first two week holiday since before I started the business, 18 years ago. (Our roadtrip was ace by the way!) Really annoyed me to be honest. As you'll be aware, I work. A LOT. 60+ hours a week, more than any other groomer I've ever known. Fully booked for a miminum of 3 months at any one time, fully booked for Christmas NINE months in advance, Just finished at 7pm today after 11 straight hours and now I'm sat doing my bookwork. Does this sound like someone who's closing down?!

Fox Terrier pup, 1st full groom. Owners decided to switch from handstripping to clip & scissor. She's so wiry that her outline looks, and will (hopefully) stay as crisp as this. Very satisfying groom to do. Well done JENNY!

This is the lovely Arthur, a Mini Red Poodle that I've had in today for his first groom with me. Not related to Punk but you could ne forgiven for thinking so. Lovely dog, really enjoyed this one. When the owner is happy to wait three and a half months for their first appointment with me, it's gotta be perfect. Two and an half hours later, happy owner, happy dog, happy groomer.

First two pics are pre groom, pics 3 and 4 are me experimenting with my favoured huge head and ears, before settling on a more practical top knot. Lovely legs on this guy, super healthy too, makes me happy!

Sunday is the best day to spend with your dog, right?! Punk has had a 5 mile walk, a bath & blow-dry, a pub lunch visit with me & Natalie & then a pet shop visit to pick a new toy. Now snuggled up asleep next to me. Bliss!

I'm a right scissor nerd. This is a SMALL selection of my scissor collection, I've got about 45 pairs that I've amassed over the years. My 'go to' brand these days are Kenchii Shears Grooming, as I'm left handed but scissor with both hands (sometimes both hands at once, if you've watched me work you'll know what I mean), I find this brand cut perfectly with both.
