Equi-Trekโ€™s patented side loading ramps on trailers and rear facing travel across the range is being continuously proven to be preferential to traditional forward facing methods.
Rather than having the horse face a small, dark opening, which they may perceive as scary, they walk into a light airy space. It is also easy to turn the horse into a rear-facing position. It may also be advantageous that the forelegs are placed in the rear of the vehicle where they may adapt to the swaying motions of braking and acceleration more readily than the hind legs.

A horse trailer service should include checks for damage, wear and tear as well as lubricating and greasing moving parts.

Important areas to inspect in a horse trailer include the coupling, breakaway cable, handbrake and jockey wheel. The electrics should also be checked for damage or water ingress including the 7/13 pin plug, cabling and lights.

Ramps, flooring and doors should be inspected to ensure they are strong and in good condition, as well as the general bodywork and seals.

Tyres should be checked for pressure and tread and wheels should be removed to check and clean the brakes and adjust them if necessary.

Wheel bearings should also be checked as well as any nuts and bolts to ensure they are tight and secure.
