Customer deposit
New customers who have not used my dog grooming services before are required to pay £10 deposit upfront when booking an appointment for the first two grooms. These deposits will be taken off the final price of the groom when you collect the dog. If you miss your appointment or cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice you will not be able to claim the deposit back. Existing customers who cancel appointments with less than 48-hour notice or miss them will be required to pay a £10 deposit when re-booking. The £10 deposit can be refunded if you cancel your appointment with more than 48 notice. I only have one customer booked in at any one time. Failure to turn up for an appointment or a last-minute cancellation means I lose income and valuable time that could have gone to another customer. Late Fees
If you are more than 15 minutes late dropping or picking your dog up from its appointment, you will be charged an extra £5 for every 10 minutes you are late. This is because I allow 20 minutes between customers during which time I have to clean the salon. Going over this time means my next appointment becomes delayed and has a knock-on effect for the entire day which often results in me going without lunch/break. De- Matting
Dogs with extensive matting will be charged an extra £5-10 on their stated groom price. This is because it takes approximately 20 minutes more to remove a matted dogs coat safely than the non-matted one and places additional wear and tear on my equipment. If on inspection on the dog I confirm it is matted and will need shaving short then please respect my qualified professional judgement. Under the animal welfare act, I have a duty to make sure your dog's groom is as pain and stress-free as possible. De-matting dogs can be highly painful and stressful. Matting is caused when the roots of the hair close to the skin knot tightly together over time. It can only be removed safely by clipping between the start of the mat and the skin, often leaving the dogs hair very short/shaved. If not removed it becomes tighter, restricting blood flow to the skin causing sores and infections. If a dog has a small amount of matting (approx. an inch) in a specific location, I can try to remove it using de-matting tools. I will only do what is comfortable for the dog. I will always strive to achieve a well-balanced look, but will not compromise a dogs welfare for aesthetic purposes. Accidents and Injury
The business is fully insured should an accident or injury happen at the salon. I have been trained in dog first aid and have a first aid kit on site. Should an injury occur to a dog that requires vet treatment I will contact Broomhill Veterinary Practice (01142683239) who have a vet on call at all times. I strive to avoid causing dogs injury or pain. Due to the unpredictable nature of animals and the use of sharp equipment accidents do sometimes occur. I always inform owners of any cuts/grazes to the skin and treat them accordingly to avoid bleeding and infection. Please note, sometimes grooming reveals sore skin, lumps or cuts that were not visible before, I always mention any such findings to owners on dog collection. If you are aware of any injuries or lumps on your dog please inform me beforehand so I can take extra care in these areas. If your dog has any serious medical conditions please discuss them with me before the appointment so I can ensure the dog is well cared for. Advice
I can not provide any medical advice regarding your dog, even if it concerned with skin sores/infections. Only a qualified vet is allowed to offer veterinary medical advice. I can advise on grooming your dog at home, training, brushing, bathing and grooming products. Fleas
If your dog has a significant number of fleas an extra £5 is added to the overall price of the groom. This is because I must treat the salon for fleas after to ensure none are passed onto the next dog. I can advise on fleas and ticks treatment. By booking your appointment you are agreeing to the above policies.
