Sorry I’ve not updated for a while, I’ve been banned on Facebook.
Following my last post about us having myxomatosis unfortunately we lost 7 rabbits.
It was a heartbreaking time, and really effected me mentally.
Gus ginger and the girls are so far fine 🤞🏼 we haven’t had any infected rabbits since the 10th September so I’m hoping all the efforts I’ve put into it not spreading and giving booster jabs etc have all helped.
Unfortunately I’ve decided not to have any more litters, well certainly for now as it’s far too heartbreaking and my aim was to show them and it just hasn’t worked out that way this time although we’ve had some fantastic results with Harry coming away with something in every show he’s been to! 👏🏼
I’m expecting my 3rd child in a couple of months so once we’re all settle and hopefully have moved house. Maybe my giants will be something I revisit, but for now they’re going to enjoy their days not raising any babies and just being our pet bunnies ❤️

Unfortunately, Meadows Giant Rabbits may be no more. We’ve come home from a weekend at the in-laws to find one of the young rabbits is showing signs of myxomatosis 😔😭 this means his 3 brothers who live with him are likey to be infected. And Gus who lives next door with only mesh seperating their run, Gus is due his boosters this month so likely not protected 😭 devastated and heartbroken isn’t the word. Although everyone else is vaccinated everyone is having a repeat dose as advised by the vet on call today, so hopefully they don’t come down with the awful disease! please keep your fingers crossed for my precious buns ❤️💔

So one of my young rabbits went to live with the lovely Claire Harrison a few weeks ago, today he entered his first show after Claire has spent a lot of time and effort preparing his coat, managing his weight & teaching him how to stand ❤️

Harry has done extremely well! Winning firsts and best in show u5! And we’ve had some lovely comments off the judges! Will share all results and photos once Claire has Harry home ❤️ Well done Claire! 👏🏼✨❤️

No 6 did have a home to go to but due to unforeseen circumstances this has now changed. He is 12 weeks old 👀 vaccinated and health checked. He’s a big boy. Lovely strong tight ear base. Nice big ears and feet, good solid build. A really good standard of the breed ❤️😍🥰

So Leah has posted another post on her page regarding the situation. Please can hateful messages towards her stop. I appreciate people backing me but I don’t want anyones mental health to be affected in anyway. I suffer with my mental health so I know how quickly things can spiral. And she has kids to be strong for.

But I’m going to clear things up one last time and then not say anything more on the matter. Because I’m becoming mentally drained of it all. I just want to continue enjoying my buns and showing you all how beautiful they are.

Leah first contacted me about buying a bun. She then enquired about 7 but I said he wasn’t for sale due to his cyst and that the vet thinks the cyst runs too deep which means it could of spread and maybe the kindest thing to do would be pts, or I could put him though operations to have the cyst cut out.
Leah wanted to still home him (obviously for free) and wanted her vet to look at him, which obviously I’m all for.

I think Leah has missed the point of why I’ve become so upset. I have no issues in her care for the rabbits, I allowed 3 buns to go to her because she doesn’t believe with being pts. And wanted to try her best to mend them. Meaning operations and possible amputations costing thousands which would be funded by her charity.
Obviously I wasn’t going to deny them the chance of life with someone who could raise the funds to give them a chance.

What upset me came after me and Leah spoke for over a month about her taking the 3 buns.
In messages Leah has shown no concern to me about my care for the rabbits. And has been very pleasant to me behind the scenes But on her page has slated me black and blue. Had people rightly so be extremely concerned for the welfare of my rabbits because of how she had Portrayed the picture posting multiple times on her “stories” which obviously only stays on for 24 hours so I can no longer see but I have been told her Fb stories had been making me out to be neglecting all my rabbits.
This was very two faced of her, and I didn’t see any of this before meeting her in Doncaster and giving her the boys. Only once I got home. These stories was obviously told so people felt sorry and angry and would donate money to her go fund me to buy an enclosure for the boys. So basically dragging my name and reputation though the mud, not caring how it would affect me, and it hurt. My buns are my babies and anyone that visits can see that.
I even have a paid worker come every weekend who I pay so they get extra attention as with 2 kids I can’t spend hours and hours with them all the time as much as I want to and sometimes try to.

So here’s the facts

Bunny no 7 - at a day old it had a cut on its side from mum. Obviously this is very common, as mum can step on them when feeding etc. some heal completely fine. His didn’t and resulted in a cyst. A cyst is formed because rabbits don’t have the enzymes to break down the puss into a liquid so it forms as thick puss creating the “cyst”
Leah had originally asked to buy a rabbit, but then wanted to offer 7 a home regardless of his cyst. I was obviously happy to do this as that’s what her charity is for. My vet didn’t think it would heal and that the cyst ran too deep meaning it’s likely spread saying the kindest thing would be to pts unless you put the rabbit though operations to cut it out, but obviously its likely to of spread. Obviously I didn’t want to pts and took him home to “think about it” that’s when me and Leah spoke about her taking him.

Bunny B - so one weekend when B was 7 weeks old they was all running around the pen, you know how inquisitive baby bunnies are and I was trying to clean them out. I stepped back stepping on Bs toes. And he pulled away at the same time. His foot went completely limp and his toes felt to be completely flat with no knuckles feeling like they had disconnected. I had him checked by my vets who (without an X-ray) believed his toes was also broken. She explained how the bigger he gets and the more weight he puts on it is he going to suffer more?
Continental giants aren’t like your standard rabbits. They would really struggle with 3 legs, getting sore hocks on the foot they would be using the most etc. it would put a lot of strain on their hips and spine also. She personally thought the kindest thing would be to put to sleep, but wanted me to take him home, and see how he managed over the course of a couple of days. Within a few days he was using it like normal and I couldn’t actually tell him apart from the other agoutis without checking for the letter in his ear.
I spoke to my vets over the phone when booking another appointment for the other rabbits and they agreed it was likely just abit sore and not then broken.

Bunny no 10 - had a lovely home to go to and they was very excited to get him. I had gone out that morning and noticed his back end didn’t look right. Picked him up and gave him a once over and thought a possible broken leg.
I’d had covid at the time, so couldn’t take him straight to the vets. And like B I hoped it would just need a couple of days to settle. I then messaged leah to see if she wanted him also and explained I thought he had a broken leg, and if so again with contis growing so large maybe the kindest thing would be to put to sleep and she said she would get him seen by her vet. I already had mabels litter vaccinations and health checks booked for Thursday and had already planned on taking 10 with me to have him seen by the vet. But said to Leah well would you like me to take him to see my vet as I was already planning on taking him on the Thursday anyway. She obviously said yes.
Turns out 10 had dislocated his hip which can be done easily with contis the same as breaking their spines. Vet had thought he had landed wrong by either jumping off his shelve in his enclosure or binkying causing his hip to pop out slightly. She tried popping it back in but couldn’t, and said it would probably pop back out again due to it being weak... but my vet said he will be just fine with it and it will just set that way and be part of him now.

I have never denied any of my animals treatment, I have always followed my vets advice. I wanted these rabbits to go to the sanctuary as Leah told me that’s why it’s a sanctuary to take in poorly rabbits and raise funds to give them a chance.
I have no concerns about my rabbits been at her sanctuary and don’t doubt they will be looked after. But what upset me was what she had made me out to be, and the lies she had told. The post she has put on isn’t the point I was making. Yes I did want my rabbits to go to her, if I didn’t then why would I meet her with them. I wanted to give them a chance as much as she does. Bs foot is completely fine and no break, 10 can live happily like his is but may need pain medication the bigger he gets for arthritis. And 7 will need his cyst cutting out with the possibility it may have spread and will need to pts as the kindest thing for him.

I’m happy for her to keep the boys in the promise she does what she promised for them. As that’s why I let them go to her. So her post has completely missed the point of why I got so upset and it became p***c - I’ve been trying to clear my name from her lies.

A little update on yesterdays situation. I still haven’t received my boys back. Leah has actually blocked me on Facebook and deleted her “sanctuary” page after admitting fraud.
I have contacted her supposed vets this morning. Who are completely shocked on the whole situation, and understand my concerns, they’ve said it’s a grey area, so she’s going to speak to management and see if they can give me any answers. She did say that she works on the reception and she’s never had anyone call in about 3 baby conti giants, but said obviously they could of called on my day off. I explained how Leah had requested videos off me of the rabbits etc, to apparently show to her vet as her vet had apparently requested them. (leah used the videos to post on her page making them out to be neglected and needing urgent vet treatment. But they was already been seen by my vets and certainly not neglected)
I gave her supposed vets her name and sanctuary name. I wasn’t convinced that they had heard of her before. I’m awaiting a call back from them to see what they can tell me, as understand my concerns for the boys ❤️

Apparently she never slated me. She’s clearly just selling everyone a sob story to get money out of them. But here she is on a video posted to her own pages story - slating me.

My 3 buns was loose in the boot of my car for a 20 min journey as I feel this was better for them than been on top of one another like when I take them in the cage to my vets. Which I only do because it’s easier for me and my vet to carry them all inside at once. Not because if I get into an accident they’re safer as regardless they are going to get hurt if I crash my car. I’m a cage or not. They had hay and water so what she was saying was a lie to make her “rescue” sound better 💰 💰

Rabbits who are in pain can get gut statis. but medications can also upset a rabbits gut. My vet weighed up the pros with the cons and didn’t think no 10 needed pain relief as was managing just fine. Why give a rabbit that is still eating and drinking hopping around and binkying pain relief when he is showing no signs of pain. Which I know rabbits mask well. But they certainly wouldn’t binky especially in front of the vet had they been on pain. I believe in my vets as they are amazing. Don’t care about money have given me free treatments etc because all they care about is the animal, not the money.
So yes if my vet doesn’t believe it is beneficial to the animal to give it medication then I am going to go with what the PROFESSIONAL SAYS!

I’m absolutely devastated to say that someone called Leah contacted me regarding no 7 who had a cyst. She apparently runs a rabbit sanctuary called midgley meadows rabbit sanctuary. She informed me she had this amazing set up and didn’t care about the rabbits cyst and that she would have this seen to by her vets (he has also been seen by my vets) I obviously didn’t want any money, I was happy for him to live his days forever here with me but when she offered him this incredible home I couldn’t deny him that. I then offered her B & 10. For no money at all. 10 already had a home to go to but due to becoming injured and getting a dislocated hip I thought she would be willing to give him an amazing home just like 7.
Today we met her at Doncaster dome and I said goodbye to the 3 boys. And a really hard goodbye to B who I’ve grown very attached to that I cried on the way home.

Once home I thought oh I’ll check her page (I’d not been on it for a couple of weeks) to see if she’s put any photos of the boys on to see how they have settled.

I then came across all of these sob stories how she needed to desperately get my rabbits from me as they needed care from a vet (they have already been receiving care from me and my vets) to get money to buy them an inadequate dog kennel. Basically making out she was rescuing my rabbits and that they are neglected. More was added to her Facebook story. People have commented saying she needed to report me, that my rabbits aren’t safe and that they are neglected etc etc, not once did she correct anyone as she was only bothered about selling this sob story obviously quite happy with how it was appearing to others to make her money and have them donate to her “go fund me page”
She also had the cheek to say I’m only bothered about the money. Let me
Clarify she got the 3 rabbits which I sell for £150 each for FREE because I was so happy someone understood their needs and wanted to give them an amazing home which obviously wasn’t the case as she doesn’t even have an adequate set up ready for them, incase they may need seperating at any instance due to all been bucks and their instincts of smelling the other bunnies to fight. 
I quickly jumped to my defence as did Claire Harrison and Mandi Lumby (thank you so much)
She has since back tracked on everything but is still failing to publicly correct everyone and hold her hands up. Because she is clearly scared about what effect this will have to her bank account when people realise she’s a fraud and sells people an untrue sob story to get money out of them.

Anyone who knows me, and has met my rabbits, seen my set ups. Knows how much my rabbits mean to me and how well cared for they are. This has upset me so much I have been in tears all afternoon.
Clearly just someone who just wants free rabbits and wants to con people out of their money making up sob stories. Reguardless of who’s name she drags through the mud and who she upsets. I just want my rabbits back 😔😢
