Over the weekend Charlotte and Jess took Lila and Odin to a Beginners Scentwork Workshop with Phoenix K9 Training and both had such a great time!

They've both been excited to expand their knowledge and with both Lila and Odin really enjoying scentwork - they really enjoyed the whole workshop and getting to learn so much from such an experienced trainer. They imprinted a new scent to both dogs as well as working on indication and detecting scent with various different objects like pipes, crates, chairs and vehicles. They're both looking forward to practicing more and putting what they've learnt into practice.

Now they'll both be working hard behind the scenes to get Lila and Odin ready to do the beginners trial in March time so stay tuned to see how they get on!

We've been working with Handsome boy Bramble for a little while now to help him to learn to become an assistance dog for his owner!

We've been going over public access training, calmness and confidence in busier locations and he is doing so incredibly well!

He and his owner will be having a meeting with Lily soon to discuss some further task training and other training specific to his owners needs to help him to assist her as best he can and we are so looking forward to seeing him continue to progress.

Social sessions!

If you're looking for the next step in your training journey and want to teach your dog appropriate socialisation with other dogs, this is the perfect service for you!

In this half an hour session, you will get to work your dog around some of our team dogs working on calmness, neutrality and social interactions with different dogs. With a wide variety of different shapes, sizes and breeds to work around, these sessions give you and your dog a great experience!

This is an exclusive service for clients of Holistic Hounds and you do need to be 'signed off' by your trainer prior to booking in a session to ensure the safety of all the dogs involved as well as the success of the session.

Our next social session day is Saturday 22nd February and we only have a few slots available so if you want to take advantage of this awesome service message a member of the team and we'll be happy to advise!

Let's talk muzzle training!

Teaching our dogs to be comfortable in a muzzle is an essential skill we teach almost every dog we work with for various different reasons as you never know when your dog may need to be comfortable with this restriction for safety reasons!

There are lots of reasons why a dog may need to wear a muzzle:
1. They are struggling with reactivity
2. They are in pain
3. They are uncomfortable being handled by strangers
4. They may eat things off the floor
5. They struggle to manage their emotions and may redirect on their handler

Doing muzzle conditioning helps out dogs to feel more comfortable with the restrictions of wearing a muzzle and we can also help with ensuring fit is good to ensure your dog is as comfortable as they possibly can be whilst wearing their muzzle.

We are extremely excited to offer a Mantrailing taster workshop with the wonderful Chloe from Ascent K9!

So on the 8th March Chloe will be joining us for the day and offering 2 group sessions where you and our dog will get to try out Mantrailing with a qualified instructor!

There are only limited spaces available in each session and only 2 sessions available on the day and this workshop is exclusive to Holistic Hounds clients so if you're interested please message a member of the team and we'll be happy to help!

Large group walks!

Our large group walks are one of our favourite services as it gives our clients the opportunity to practice their training in a more challenging but controlled environment.

These are exclusive walks that are only for current or past clients of Holistic Hounds! This allows us to put yours and your dogs safety and training at the forefront of our walks by us signing clients off once we think they are ready to join this challenging environment allows for better success for both you and your dog!

^Includes a pre-shoot consultation, an hour and a half outdoor shoot and 10 edited, high-resolution digital images

Extra images can be purchased for an additional fee and if you haven't worked personally with Jess we can arrange a free meet and greet with you and your dog before your shoot date to ease them into being around her and a camera.

We are THRILLED to announce that our very own Jess is launching Dog Photography as an official service launching 18th February!

Those who have been following us since Jess joined the team last year will know she has an incredible talent with a camera and you'll have noticed our photography content has stepped up since she started working with us!

We believe that every dog owner should be able to have photos of their dogs that capture their personalities, beauty, and even their relationships with you. Whether you are looking for majestic portraits or candid action shots, Jess has got you covered!

As we work with a lot of nervous and reactive cases, we appreciate that some of our clients may not feel confident going to see a standard pet photographer, therefore knowing your photos are being taken by one of our training team means your experience will be tailored to suit your dog and ensuring they are comfortable throughout.

So we are pleased to announce that Jess is now offering photography packages as a service to allow you as clients to have access to her beautiful images and skills!

One thing we knew needed to be changed, was our progression steps for the puppies we work with! We found that after the puppy course, our OB1 level was simply too big of a step for our young brained little ones and so we created our Foundation Obedience Course! This level is tailored to the little ones or dogs who haven’t had any prior training and so far they’re all doing SO well!

Threshold training! Threshold training is all about teaching your dog that they can’t cross a threshold without being invited to do so Seems boring right? WRONG! When done right threshold training can stop your dog from running out your front door, passing through gateways without you or even running into roads!
