HolistiCamp 2024 is THIS WEEKEND!

So this is your pre warning that we will be CLOSED between the 23rd and 28th August whilst our team are at camp and then recovering for a couple of days after!

Please bear with our team as we recover from our favorite event of the year and catch up with messages when we're back and if you're joining us for the weekend - we can't wait to see you there and have a great weekend together!

Good boy Buddy!

We met sweet Buddy last week for his assessment as his owner has been struggling with his recall and wanted some help in understanding why he wouldn't recall and how to help him.

Buddy has done a fair amount of training and understands his recall word and without any distractions, his recall is awesome! The issue comes when Buddy is distracted and he then doesn't think he has to respond until he is finished with what he's doing.

So Jess has been working on rebuilding his recall so he knows he needs to respond even with distractions around which includes using some of our team dogs as distractions too! Here he is with Lottie after working off of her playing and doing incredibly well!

Keep up the good work Buddy - you've got this!

Handsome boy Franklin has been enjoying his training walks with trainee trainer Jess and she is really enjoying working with him!

Our training walks give your dogs access to one on one time with one of our trainers where they can work on any of the training you're working on or want to work on with your dog! Our team are all given a brief on each of the dogs prior to their walks so their trainer can share what they're working on or need more practice on and you as clients can also make requests on what you want your trainer to work on in the session too.

Franklin has been working on his recall and engagement training especially around distractions as we prepare him to get used to being off the lead and he is doing so well!

Sweet Lyra doing so well in her recent social session with some of the pack!

Lyra and her owners have been doing so well with her feeling more comfortable around other dogs but after a few issues, needed a bit of a top up to help everyone gain some confidence.

She did so incredibly well and was great around some of the pack, even getting to the point of lying down with them all around her and not feeling so anxious and stressed which is such a good step!

Well done Lyra and team - keep it up!

How GORGEOUS is little Leo the Golden Retriever puppy?!

Leo will be joining our next puppy course in a few weeks but beforehand, his owners wanted to do some one to one sessions at home to get them ahead and started off on the right foot.

So trainee dog trainer Jess and Charlotte went to meet him and his owners this morning to do some training together and he did so well! His owners are already working on a few different things with him but have been struggling with getting him comfortable with the lead as he isn't a huge fan of it. So we did some work together with helping him feel more comfortable with the lead and he did so well!

We'll be meeting up with him and his owners again next week to see how they're getting on and we can't wait to see this adorable little man grow and learn more through the puppy course too!

Some of you may have seen that directors Nathan and Charlotte took a few days off to attend Canine Instincts Dog Behaviour & Training Workshop with the awesome Larry Krohn!

They had a great few days and learnt a lot from Larry that they're really excited to implement into their every day training with their own dogs and clients dogs too!

We are all always growing and learning and as a company run by two young trainers, we believe it is SO important to learn from others within the industry and not be afraid to change things and add things to our tool belt. So they're really excited to show you all what they've learnt in the near future and use the new skills they have to help out more of our clients.

Huge thank you to Larry, Carley and Marc for a great Workshop - we can't wait for the next one!

For the next few days, Directors Nathan and Charlotte will be attending a 3 day workshop with Larry Krohn!

We believe professional development is an incredibly important aspect of our growth as trainers as we all simply don't know everything. So we require ALL of our team, including our directors, to complete yearly CPD in order to ensure our team are continuing to learn, grow and provide the very best training we can for clients.

So Nathan and Charlotte will be spending the next 3 days with Canine Instincts Dog Behaviour & Training and GRC Dog Sport UK who are hosting Larry over in the UK to learn!

Please bear with our team as we will be two members short and be prepared for lots of updates to see what they are up to at the workshop!

Our next Obedience course is starting on the 31st August and we still have a couple of spaces available!

In this course, you work on key life skills that you can use such as:
-loose lead walking around distractions
-recall around distractions
-place training out and about
-recall
-emergency down
-engagement training
-and more!

In order to join this course, you do need to have done some training with our team to ensure this is a good next step for you and your dog. This is a 6 week course where your last session will be a test day for you to work towards and completion earns you a certificate for your dog!

Today's star dog is lovely Luna!

A typical Romanian rescue dog, Luna and her owners were struggling with reactivity towards other dogs, very nervous of men and a high prey drive causing her to chase anything that moves! They have made incredible progress since we met them back in April and at today's group walk she was one of 15 dogs and was absolutely incredible.

Luna and her owners did so incredibly well and it was so lovely to see her so confident and enjoying her walk!

Well done Luna and team - you're doing so well!

Trainee dog trainer Jess has had a busy and successful few days!

With two assessments with brand new clients a first session with a new client and a third session with a client Jess has been working with for about a month now, she has been a busy bee!

Jess is doing so well at taking on her own clients and so far the feedback we have had is incredibly positive which we are so pleased about! With her taking the lead on more sessions we're finding our team is getting more and more booked up so if you're looking to get booked in with either Jess or Lily, be sure to message our team so we can get you booked in for your sessions as soon as possible.

Little Bailey!

Bailey has just recently graduated from our puppy course and is doing incredibly well with his training! As part of our puppy course, all of our puppies get a one to one session with one of our team to work on training in the home so we popped over to Bailey's owners house recently to help on some training at home!

We work on things like; place training, calmness around the house, handling guests and people knocking on the door as well as any unwanted behaviors that your puppy may be displaying a home.

Bailey is doing so well and we are so proud of the progress he has made since we first met him!

Gorgeous boy Reggie learning to be confident in busier locations!

Reggie can be nervous of life and we've been working with him and his owners to help build up his confidence and tackle his fears! In his last session, we took him to the Oracle Shopping Center in Reading for some urban training and settle training in a busier environment and he did so well!

Using one of our Taylor and Floof settle mats, we practiced some settle training with Reggie at one of the cafes in the Oracle and he did such a good job of settling and being calm in a challenging environment.

We'll be continuing to help Reggie and his owners to tackle his fears and help him to be a more confident young man so keep an eye on our social media to follow his journey!

Little man Loki the Shiba smashing his social session with some of the pack!

Loki came to us with reactivity issues around other dogs and his owners never thought they'd see Loki comfortable around other dogs in this close proximity but he has come on so well with training and we are so proud of the progress he has made!

He is the kind of dog who is not particularly interested in being overly social with other dogs which is totally fine and we aren't trying to make him social or change his personality. Loki is learning to be neutral around other dogs so that he is able to coexist with other dogs without feeling as though he had to be reactive towards them.

He is doing so well and we can't wait to see him progress even more!

Nova learnt a new trick - wave!

We've been really enjoying teaching some of our dogs some random new tricks as part of their training! It's a great way to bond, grow their confidence and do something fun together!

If you'd like to learn some new tricks with your dog, we have our Beginners Tricks Training course coming up in August that you can book onto and join us on! We'll be going over the basics of tricks training, luring, capturing and teaching you and your dog some great beginners tricks you can show off to your friends!

Gorgeous Oliver!

This handsome little man is a rescue from Cyprus who is almost a year old and has been in the UK with his new family for about a month now and is doing so well!

This sweet boy really is a happy go lucky, friendly and sweet young man with an amazing personality and owners who are making sure to get off on the right foot as soon as possible. We're really looking forward to working with Oliver and his family and getting them their basic training and support to help him adjust to his new life in the UK!

Sweet pair Bella and Rufus on a recent training walk with Lily!

Bella and Rufus are now enjoying their off lead freedom with Lily now she knows them really well and has done several walks with these two lovely dogs! Bella can be reactive towards other dogs and her owner has been working with the training team to help her to be more comfortable and safe around other dogs. She has made such great progress and is much more comfortable around other dogs as well as being much less reactive.

She does often wears a muzzle when she is off lead in public places to ensure everyone's safety and is still very happy to go about her day with it on. Her and Rufus have been really enjoying their walks with Lily and we are looking forward to seeing Bella continue to grow in her training as she continues in her journey!

Don't forget our Trainee Dog Trainers Jess and Lily are offering one to one sessions at £50 an hour whilst they continue training and learning to be a dog trainer with us!

These sessions will be for basic training, play work, tricks training and some behavior work. In order to ensure our trainee trainers are able to offer the very best training for you and your dog, all behavior work must be approved by our experienced team prior to taking the booking. Your session will be overseen by Nathan or Charlotte to make sure a high standard of work is achieved and any support is provided to our learning team members. Please bear in mind that our Trainee Trainers are still learning and although they have had a few months of support from our team behind the scenes now, the best way for them to learn is to physically teach clients with the support of Nathan or Charlotte if they need it.

By booking one of these sessions, you are helping to train up the next generation of Professional Dog Trainers and helping our team to grow in their professional knowledge and experience which is why these sessions are something we are excited to be offering!

We are committed to ensuring our team are trained to a high standard and we know both Jess and Lily are now ready to start taking on some clients of their own with our support as they build on their skills and confidence prior to spreading their wings and teaching on their own.

Sweet Tilly wearing a coat in this video smashed one of her fears last week - going into town! Lovely Tilly can be reactive towards people as she is very nervous and struggles to feel comfortable when there are lots of people she doesn't know around. We've been working hard with her and her owners to help her to gain confidence and feel more comfortable out and about but haven't tackled a busy space like a town until last week when we knew she was ready to take the big step forward. So to help her out, we brought Lottie along to help her feel more comfortable and gain confidence and started off outside where there wasn't too many people and it wasn't so scary. Then, once she was comfortable, we worked our way inside and even ended up heading into a coffee shop where, despite being a little panty, she was very relaxed and comfortable in a busier setting! Well done Tilly and team - keep up the good work!

Dogmas 2023 winners!

As you've all been keen to see more agility training content with Lottie - here is what you've all been waiting for... Nathan running a course!! There's a few added jumps but as this was only the second time Nathan has run a course with the little speedy Spaniel, we were very impressed that he managed to keep up and run the course pretty much exactly as it was meant! He'll likely be very offended we have shared this on his behalf (especially as he does trip over his own feet right at the beginning!) however it would be rude not to share his attempts as well. Enjoy and we'll be sure to video more of both his and Charlotte's runs as they continue training!

Lottie agility update! It's been about 9 months since Lottie and Charlotte first started their agility training lessons and look at them flying now!! They've been working hard on getting Lottie to work more at a distance from Charlotte to help her to feel confident working away from her handler and to help Charlotte with a little less running! She's made such amazing progress in less than a year and we're very excited to see them continue to progress as they continue their journey together! This video was from a few weeks ago in the agility barn now that the weather isn't fab! You can see she makes a couple of mistakes, which is absolutely fine! However, this is a lovely example of how far she has come and how much more confident she is not only in the individual aspects of the course but also at working a little further away from Charlotte.
