🐾 Friends for Pets: Our Story! 🐾

Friends for Pets was founded in 2008 by Becca Wilson in the beautiful Cheddar area of Somerset. With a lifelong passion for animals, Becca completed her MSc in Animal Science, specialising in Animal Behaviour & Welfare. She even worked on an incredible project in Pakistan and East Africa, helping train vets and animal health workers!

But when the political landscape shifted, Becca decided to combine her love for animals and teaching. She started dog walking and pet sitting while lecturing in Animal Care at a local college. What began as a small side business quickly grew into something much bigger – through word of mouth, Friends for Pets was born!

Within just a few months, the demand soared, and Becca needed extra hands. Fast forward to today, and we now have an amazing team of 85 pet carers, covering a large area of the South West. To maintain our high standards, Becca franchised Friends for Pets, ensuring each area is managed by local, animal-loving professionals who share the same ethics and passion.

🐕✨ Our award-winning team is dedicated to providing the highest level of pet care, treating each pet as a part of our extended family. We’re proud to serve and support our local communities with love and care!

Our Story

Our award winning company Friends for Pets was established in 2008 within the area of Cheddar, Somerset offering a dog walking and pet sitting service to thousands of happy customers throughout the UK. As the business grew significantly and organically, we set ourselves up to franchise, 11 years later we have 18 successful Franchises.

Many of our current franchisees joined us to seek a much better work life balance and to spend more time with their families. Some also joined us to become their own boss whilst fulfilling their passion for animals.

Every franchisee benefits from our truly amazing support team who all have a wealth of knowledge within the animal sector, at our head office in Somerset.

Pet’s Welfare is at the heart of what we do! Our business model is focused around Animal Welfare and we work closely with local authorities and have previously members of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare helping to bring Animal Welfare Issues to the forefront of MPs issues in the Houses of Parliament. We took part in the discussions to create the update ‘The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018’.
