12.11.24 UPDATE: This dog has been collected by the local Dog Warden as we have been unable to locate an owner. Thank you to everyone who shared missing dogs, commented and got in touch to try and help find their home.

We have had a stray dog handed into us, found on the Fosseway (A429) by a member of the public. There is no microchip so proof of ownership will be required, so we are not releasing any further details.

Please phone us on 01608 661232 if you are missing your dog.

We have had a deceased black and white kitten brought into us this morning found on the Fosseway close the Shipston turning. We are aware this has been posted about already but as there is no microchip we are trying to locate an owner.

Please contact us on 01608 661232.

Rabbits are easily stressed by bangs, whizzes and other loud noises. Keep your bunny happy on Bonfire Night and beyond with these tips:

🎆Bring your rabbits hutch indoors or an unused garage or shed is a good alternative. If you can’t bring your pets inside, turn their enclosure around so it faces a wall or fence instead of the open garden. This will help to stifle the sound and prevent them from seeing the flashes of light. Cover their hutch with thick blankets or a duvet to block out the bangs and the sight of the fireworks, but make sure your pet still has enough ventilation.
🎇Close windows and doors to keep the sound out and leave a tv or radio on.
Ideally rabbits should have a companion, so keep them together for comfort and stress relief.
🎆Provide plenty of hay and bedding for burrowing and hiding.
🎇Do not constantly fuss or bother your rabbit, try to remain calm and relaxed for them.

For us, fireworks enjoyable to watch, but for a cat they can be very frightening. Frightened cats may be startled, run away and become lost. Distressed cats can develop behavioural issues such as house-soiling or excessive grooming.

There are several elements that can be put into place ahead of a planned firework show, these involve:

🎆If appropriate ensure your cat is safely indoors before dark. If your cat is used to outside access, practice this beforehand to try and limit the stresses
🎇Get your cat accustomed to the sound of fireworks many weeks before the firework season.
🎆Provide your cat with a safe and comfortable hiding place in case it is frightened. Cats tend to feel safer in higher places.
🎇Don’t try to cuddle your cat to make it all Ok. Treat your cat as normal, stroking it if it makes contact with you.
🎆Use treats, puzzle feeders and toys to distract your cat from the firework noise.

If you feel you need further support and guidance before the season begins, please don't hesitate to call us and book in with one of our nurses who can assist you with everything you may need.

With firework season fast approaching we are urging all of our canine owners to start prepping ahead! If you are unsure if your furry friend is struggling the main signs that can be seen are whining, clinginess, excessive panting, tucking their tail between their legs or trembling.

This is a common fear for dogs and can be managed with the right planning and treatment! There are several elements that can be put into place ahead of a planned firework show, these involve:
🎆Staying in with your dog, having you for company will help them relax
🎇Don’t go out after dark, ensure walkies are done before dusk and any fireworks start
🎆Create a safe hiding place and let them hide away if they want to
🎇Check your house and garden are escape-proof in case of escape attempts

There are also further elements that can be done during the fireworks, and these can include
🎆Blocking out flashes and bangs with curtains and relaxing music
🎇Try to stay calm and relaxed yourself, comfort and reassure your dog
🎆Avoid telling off for barking or any messes are made by accident
🎇Recognise the needs of your dog individually, provide entertainment such as puzzle feeders or practice reward based training

If you feel you need further support and guidance before the season begins, please don't hesitate to call us and book in with one of our nurses who can assist you with everything you may need.

This year we’ve teamed up with the Loxley Bonfire committee to raise awareness for pet owners to be as prepared as possible when it comes to bonfire and fireworks season. We would always encourage attendance to planned events with known times so that anti-anxiety measures can be put in place where needed.

With this in mind, we are offering FREE nurse clinics to discuss preventative firework/noise anxiety methods and appeasing pheromone treatments. For particularly anxious pets, nurses can refer clients to a vet for a HALF PRICE consultation.

To book speak to reception on 01608 661232 or use the online booking form on our website.
