Dog A.I.D. (Assistance In Disability) Please support our life-changing work by donating via Just Giving - https://www.justgiving.com/dogaid

The main difference between Dog AID and many other assistance groups is that the disabled owner learns how to train their own dog. Generally all the training is carried out by the owner with supervision from a specially trained instructor. Dog AID training is designed to give a measure of independence and provide owners with the knowledge to train other tasks. This allows them to adapt the training to their own needs with an instructor who is able to give advice as required

It's time to celebrate our first Trainer of the Month for 2025!

We're delighted to announce that the Dog A.I.D. Trainer of the Month for January 2025 is....JEMMA RUSSELL!!! Congratulations Jemma 😀🐶🌟🎉

Jemma is currently working with a partnership towards their Level 2 assessment. We were told: “Jemma is helpful, supportive and kind. She always tries to meet my individual needs during training. As a result of her dedication, my husband and I have both increased our knowledge of how to train Gabi, and Gabi has greatly benefitted from the sessions. We cannot pick just one achievement and could not have done this without Jemma. We want to thank her for everything".

Jemma personifies the qualities of our amazing Dog A.I.D. volunteer trainers - personalised training delivered in a supportive and kind way. Thank you for everything you do for Dog A.I.D. Jemma!

What a lovely picture to start off 2025 with! We heard from Michelle who took a trip to the Tower of London over the Christmas holidays with Assistance Dog Nova.

Michelle messaged the Dog A.I.D. team to say, "How can we thank Dog A.I.D. who have helped transform my life for the better? I go out so much now; no need to worry as Nova has a knack of getting my dropped items whether I am in or out of the house...I managed to go to the Tower of London, something I could not do or was to scared to do. She was an absolute star ✨️ This is why Assistance Dogs are needed to help change a life".

Thank you for such an inspirational message Michelle! If you would like to help Dog A.I.D. to train more Assistance Dogs like Nova, check out our website today to find out how you can support us - https://dogaid.org.uk/lend-a-paw-campaign

We’re thrilled to hear that Dog A.I.D. client Ryan and Assistance Dog Logan (pictured with trainer Jo) recently passed their annual reassessment – congratulations to you both! 😍🤩🐶

Ryan credits Logan with giving him more independence. He describes Logan’s ability to pick up dropped items, such as keys and wallets, as his ‘superpower.’ Ryan no longer has to rely on others to retrieve items he has dropped; Logan steps in to help automatically, without needing to be asked. This support has been invaluable to Ryan’s daily life.

Could you help us to support people like Ryan to train their own pet dog to become an Assistance Dog by donating to Dog A.I.D. this Christmas? Find out how - https://dogaid.org.uk/fundraise-and-donate

Meet super-cute Esme! Esme is currently in training to become an Assistance Dog. This is her featured with owner Nic having a training session in a noisy cafe with their Dog A.I.D trainer. Esme is learning how to settle, replicating a situation when Nic is out meeting friends for coffee, before handing her settle mat to Nic when they're ready to go.

Our volunteer dog trainers do amazing work with our partnerships. It's such a rewarding role and gives trainers the opportunity to get creative with their skills as well as learning from Dog A.I.D.'s exclusive professional development programme. If you're a dog trainer and could volunteer your skills for a few hours a month for a great cause, get in touch today! https://dogaid.org.uk/become-a-trainer
