Weathering the storm at Zobeyni ❄️
Snow then rain & mud, the glories of an English winter. Sally & her 2024 foal Nina are firmly staying put in their shelter while Penny, the tyrannical Welsh pony is graciously allowing Bambi to share her shelter & hay. The local wildlife drops in for free snacks too!
It is good to get the horse chores in the damp cold all done and retreat to my own shelter ….. time to curl up with a book I think 💜

A year at Zobeyni 💫
Happy New Year & wishing you all the best for 2025.
A year is always a mix of joy & grief so I hope your joys have been uplifting & your griefs worth your love & care. Thank you to those who support me in my life through its ups & downs & I hope I can hold your hand through the darkness when needed & share the laughter for your joys.
2024 started with Hope as always
- Family times with furry friends
- launching pedigrees & calligraphy
- losing a dear friend in Diana, missed by so many
- losing my beloved Narishka, my first homebred foal, just a couple of months off her 30th birthday
- new life with the arrival of “Nina”, foals make everything better
- My daughter got engaged, my sister got married & my husband Peter retired ….. parties for all!
- Holidays & family & friends visits …. With horses too
- I lost another very dear friend in Daphne in the autumn, tough times
- Christmas comes around & it’s time for family & furry friends

When times are dark, I keep my family, horses, dogs, cats & special friends close & they help me see the light ahead. Wishing you all happiness 🌟💫

Wildlife at Zobeyni 🦋
Finally managed to grab a very poor (distant) snap of the unusual dark pheasant that is frequenting my paddocks at the moment. Has anyone else come across pheasants with this colouring? So striking ….. although the horses are not interested ☺️
The brightened photo makes him look green but you can see more detail than in the darker snap 🤔

Zobeyni in print 💫
Lovely to see Zobeyni Nurani in the Crabbet stallions at stud feature in the AHS Yearbook. My advert showing off newbie “Nina” & the lovely “Bambi” has come out beautifully thanks to Tanya Betts’ design & I was also touched to see my tribute to the late Daphne Cocksedge of the Romac Stud. We have had so many losses of great breeders this year 💔

A slightly muddy walk over the fields with the dogs Buffy & Caesar. Then lunch with my daughter & back to hers to admire her lights & have hot drinks ☕️

Friends at Zobeyni 💜
I’ve had a couple of stressful days with Bambi (Zobeyni Aziza) not being quite right. I always worry about colic but quick action, sloppy feed, getting in & monitoring seems to have got it under control. My lovely vets at Stretton Hills Equine Veterinary Practice assured me she is on the mend already. It just shows that knowing your horses & adjusting rapidly is key - Bambi of course was angelic throughout 💜 Thanks to Julie for helping in those first worrying moments 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩🥰panic
Update Friday 20th December:
Lots of lovely, shiny p**p this morning & much happier 👍🥰🤞💫

Oh so windy at Zobeyni!
So the horses tucked themselves in their field shelters & ate extra hay & we took the dogs for a play at our local agility field at Wags. Peter, I, our daughter Emma & Joe had fun with Caesar, Elsie & Buffy - my little 9 year old Cavalier spaniel Buffy was the agility champion!☺️

Definitions & Delusions
I have been playing with pedigree percentages today. It's a Sunday but it does not feel like work even if the pedigrees I do are a business these days; it's always been a hobby.
I am just a little tired of coming across Crabbet Arabians that Datasource and Allbreedpedigree both insist on describing as Straight Egyptian. I have no problem with Crabbet Arabians being described as part Egyptian, due to their inheritance from the foundation stock that came from Ali Pasha Sherif, but when Bedouin foundation horses that came direct to Crabbet and never set foot in Egypt are described as Straight Egyptian, that is just a bit maddening.
I understand that what it really means is that these lines are accepted by the Asil Club and the Sherif Pyramid Society but, on that basis, I could describe the early RAS Egyptians as Straight Crabbet! The terminology needs to be clearer and not head up the horse's bloodline description way before mention is made of Crabbet.
The great Crabbet sire Oran is described as Straight Egyptian although he was bred in England by Lady Yule at the Hanstead Stud from parents bred at Crabbet. His bloodlines do owe much to the Ali Pasha Sherif lines such as Mesaoud (who really can be described as Straight Egyptian) but he is about 35% Blunt Bedouin imports and 65% Ali Pasha Sherif ancestry.
I tried to add a note to the information on Queen of Sheba on allbreedpedigree to say she was a Bedouin mare and NOT Straight Egyptian - apparently her information is locked.
Meanwhile we have new researchers who just repeat this information with no real knowledge of the horses concerned.
It is all a bit sad. You cannot believe everything written even on an official registration site such as Datasouce.
