UPDATE ON JUSTICE FOR HARRY, for those of you that don't know what happened please take the time to read below. This case has now gone to the second stage at the veterinary board, there are a number of concerns they have raised.
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR DOG i really want Justice for Harry😭😭
Easter Saturday Harry was taken as an emergency to the vet with signicant bruising to his right side, lacerations to his left side and a broken front tooth, the vet was told no expense was to be spared, at this point Harry was very alert and aggressive because he was in pain. The vet sedated him shaved around his injuries and took him into theatre to stitch him up. At no point did he do any checks other than pull his back legs out while he was heavily sedated, after approximately 30 minutes I was called in to the theatre, Harry had been injected to bring him round and the nurse remained with me briefly until she could remove the breathing tube. I was then left alone with Harry while the nurse was cleaning the surgery and sterising the equipment and the vet was somewhere around the practise, about 20 minutes passed and Harry was showing no signs of coming round and no checks had been done on Harry, the vet gave him another injection to help bring him round i asked about his front tooth the vet commented "oh yes forgot about that" and pulled it out, another 10 minutes passed before Harry came round screaming it was so painful to hear. I picked Harry up but couldn't console him, I asked the vet was he going to scan him or do any xrays to determine any further injuries, the vet point blank said no no need, we were a further 30 minutes before leaving because we lost the car keys. Harry wasn't really aware of his surrounding he was completely lifeless in my arms, the vet sent him home much to my amazement. I asked what I needed to be looking out for he said nothing he is going to be sore come back in a week to see how he is progressing. We returned home within 20 minutes. I was back on the phone approximately 30 minutes later expressing my concerns Harry was crying, he couldn't stand, his cheeks were flaring and he appeared completely disoriented, i was told very abruptly nothing he could do, give him Calpol, i explained Harry was not concious enough to take Calpol the vet said well monitor him, Harry died 15 minutes later in a very undignified manner. No dog deserves what Harry went through and the vet will not acknowledge any wrong doing. I have sent two emails asking for answers and he swerves around the questions, surely Harry should of been xrayed or scanned or blood tests taken to look for further injuries or internal bleeding and surely he should of remained in veterinary care being monitored by professionals. I appreciate Harry may very well of died but at least he could of had a dignified death rather than left to suffer. All I'm asking is some justice for Harry, some acknowledgement from the vet that more should of been done and at the very least my bill refunded. At no point did the vet say these injuries could be life threatening, and it was a 24 hour practice so keeping Harry hospilised should never of been an issue, please don't let this happen to any other innocent animal be sure the vet is diligent and experienced enough to be on duty.
I received Harry's clinical notes, I have attached the email I have sent to the vet😭😭😭😭😭
F.A.O ***************
I received Harry's clinical notes, I think you have the wrong dog!
Listing of the following Discrepancies:
S*x: Male (Neutered), Harry was entire.
Colour: Black &Tan, Harry was Silver Dappled.
Multiple attack wounds to flanks: Harry had one wound on his flank and it was not an attack wound.
Debride flush and suture three wounds on right flank: Harry had one wound on his flank, one wound on his stomach and one wound on his P***s.
Paige managed to fit a muzzle: I put the muzzle on Harry as he was in a lot of pain and had shown aggression while at home.
The p***s was examined and was injury free: Harry had a cut on his p***s but it was not necessary to stitch or require further treatment.
There were puncture wounds to the ears: there was an old tiny scab on his right ear.
The gums were pink: you wouldn't of known while examining him as he had a muzzle on and you did not do any examinations other than shave round his wounds and pull his back legs out while he was heavily sedated.
Harry was slow recovering from the anaesthetic but this was not unusual after sedation with Domitor: Harry required two doses of the reversal drug to bring him round, so clearly there was some concern.
Mrs Membury rang at 19.25hrs saying Harry was crying and unwell: I said alot more than that, I said I was not happy, he was crying, he couldn't stand, his cheeks were flaring, he was completely disoriented. I was told very abruptly nothing you could do, give him Calpol, i explained Harry was not concious enough to take Calpol, you said well monitor him.
You expressed your condolences: you said I am sorry, he did have trauma, that's not condolences .
No where on Harry’s clinical notes does it say you told me to return in a week or so to see how Harry was progressing.
What on earth is going on, this is beyond belief.
