Phoenix

Phoenix come to me for schooling with a few difficulties to work through

After some medical issues (hormonal & ulcers - all were veterinary treat) Phoenix had become a real issue ridden wise in the arena

Any rider asking her for trot or canter would send Phoenix into broncing/bucking/rearing and dismounting the riders
This was the last chance for Phoenix for doing more than hacking - she’s extremely loved so would have had a home for life still as a happy hacker!

When she arrived I began as I always do with groundwork to build up some trust between us both and to start getting what I would ask for ridden wise, without the worry of me on her back

Our first ride, she felt tense/anxious. I spent this time reassuring and giving her lots of praise.
Every attempt to go forwards when I asked she got a lot of praise. With this, I felt her relax & realise this is what I wanted from her

In around a week we had canter, using the same praising technique.

She had a physio treatment by SAM Equine Physical Therapy and Manipulation in which we found her sore in her saddle area. So from then started using a Smart Saddle on her, this free’d up her paces much more.

She actually LOVES to canter!

Her owners are amazing!
We then started looking for a new saddle for Phoenix with the help of Jill Yeates

When Phoenix’ owners came on Sunday.
They watched me ride first then Phoebe hopped on board. Getting all transitions asked for with a lovely relaxed pony! It was all quite emotional!

It has to be said & I’ve said it all along!
I love Phoenix!

And how great are her family!! When they come across issues with their pony, they have done everything to get her happy & comfortable!

Eddie had his first viewing last night, they instantly fell in love with his amazing temperament and after the viewing they decided they wanted him & we’re sending over the deposit to secure.

Lovely family, lovely excited child!

- Yet I’ve since heard nothing at all

I’ve contacted a transporter as they asked me to

If you wonder why my stables are not stocked up with sales horses. This is why

I’ve arranged more horses to come this week, however I’m debating cancelling.

Currently giving the website a full revamp!

Between dentist, farrier & physio visits - think I’ll wait til this evening for riding 🙈

I’m open to viewings for Luna & Eddie all week.

However I will not be able to do any viewings tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday)
I was using some very rubbish plaiting bands to plait up Luna, one snapped (actually every single one snapped!) & hit me directly in my eye

I thought nothing of it but it seems to of scratched my eye, today is a major migraine, nausea & light sensitivity.
So all the horses are having a lovely day snuggled up with big beds out of the horrible weather, whilst I hide with a blanket over my face 😅

Anyone who knows me & the amount of plain stupid sh*t I do daily, or the horses I’m happy to work with knows how ridiculously stupid it is that it’s a bludy plaiting band that has actually injured me 🙈😂

Farringdon Easter Edition
Eddie at ESAH Events dressage this weekend

What a little superstar he is 🤩
Come out with the most chilled attitude!

56.78% first test
66.30% for 🥇 in his second test

Sadly we didn’t work things out correctly for his first test, with Luna being by the warm up, when he went in for his test they shouted for each other and he got a little distracted, however he still completed an accurate test, just lacked concentration to produce it as nice as he’s capable of

In his second test Luna was walked away to graze & he had full concentration on his test & worked beautifully & gave me such a nice, easy ride

At the end of the day he is only 5yo, he has a fantastic attitude & so versatile, we can forgive mistakes here & there & work to improve on these - I don’t doubt the potential in this special boy!

He happily stood on the box alone whilst Luna was doing her tests.
Stood around happily getting fuss & attention between classes - the most affectionate pony I’ve ever met!

Even Flizer Little kindly held him for us, a huge Thankyou! As I know you’d prefer not to be handling any horses 😄

Luna at ESAH Events dressage this weekend

Could I be more proud of this 5yo?!

Come out & got on with her job, as well as loading in under a minute each time!

68.04% for 🥇 in her first test
66.52 for 🥉 in her second test

Lovely comments from the judge
She had tired a bit for her second test but still tried her best for me

Stood amazing with Kayleigh Hannah Varcoe whilst I was on my other ride.
We now know Luna doesn’t currently like to stand on the box alone (if travelled with a friend) but absolutely no issue to stand around with

She is a total pleasure to ride & work with, what a special pony who only keeps getting better! 😍

Eddie out for an arena hire today at Greenlands' Arenas

I really love jumping this pony!
He has got so much to give & there is so much potential there!

He had a couple of looks at the beginning but soon understood what was being asked

And a nice splash (and drink) in the water to cool off

He could make a fab little show jumper

Luna - loading 🙌🏼

After an issue with loading Luna when she was stressed & unhappy(elsewhere!), this today made me extremely happy!

Simply just a horse happy and comfortable in her home with her owner she trusts
This is only the second attempt at loading her since there was an issue

Last time we tried we used a lead pony (perfect little Eddie!) and a couple of people on the ground to kindly assist. Once she had walked through once I left her at that.

Today we got this straight away! 💛

Well we’ve gone from “Lazy Luna” to “Lovely Luna” 😍

I’ve backed off advertising whilst I ran with a curiosity over the laziness.
She’s had a week of gastriguard & is now going forwards when asked, has a little “spark” about her when getting on board
But she’s still the same laid back Luna, but off the leg & putting energy to her work!

There’s no stopping this girl now with what she has the potential to do

A little technical work now needed on the jumping side as we were launching the fences 😄 - no scope no hope as they say!

So proud of Eddie, he’s getting over his worries of big vehicles!

Twice passing this one on our hack yesterday, I used to keep him back in driveways to let him watch them from a distance, gradually got him closer each time, to now feeling like hes got this and can cope with riding by them

Huge thankyou to this driver for being so kind when passing both times, as soon as he seen Eddie was worried about passing the first time he turned the engine off, once we were by the trailer he turned it back on & Eddie wasn’t phased both times, which was great!
