🎆 prepare a safe space for your furry friend
🎇 walk your dog before dusk
🎆 closing windows, doors, curtains and blinds can help reduce sounds and visual disturbances
🎇 playing music in the background
🎆 give them toys and treats to distract them and stay with them to help keep them calm
🎇 ensure your pets microchip is up to date in case of straying

The Hovawart is a medium to large size German dog breed. The name means "yard-watcher" or "farm-watcher". They are not a breed you see very often in the UK, with there currently only being around 300 registered 😍

In the UK, the color of a dog's lead or collar can indicate the dog's temperament or needs:
- Red: Caution, the dog may be aggressive or unpredictable
- Orange: The dog doesn't like other dogs
- Green: The dog is friendly
- Blue: The dog is a service dog or in training, don't approach without the owner's consent
- White: The dog is deaf or blind
- Yellow: The dog is nervous and needs more space
- Purple: Do not feed the dog

⭐ Meet Clarence ⭐

Clarence was found on a building site when he was around 6 weeks old 🐱
-
He presented with a deformity to one of his legs. We carried out x-rays, which we have included in the video below. As you can see there was a fracture to his front right leg ❤
-
Orthopaedic advice was sought and the decision was made to leave it to heal on its own due to his young age and natural growth 💙

As you can see, the fracture did not impede his playtime. A follow up x-ray was taken 5 months after to check his progress, which showed the fracture has completely heeled. He now lives with our practice manage Laura and you would never know anything had occurred ❤

Lots of foods available at Christmas time contain ingredients that are highly toxic to our pets. We shall list below so of the ingredients that you should be aware of your pet ingesting and what to do if this happens.

🥧 Dried fruit - raisins, currents & sultanas - these are most commonly found in mince pies, Christmas puddings and christmas cake.
-
🥜 Macadamia nuts - often chocolate coated
-
🍫 Chocolate - chocolate biscuits, a tub of chocolates, chocolate decorations.
-
If your pet does ingest any of these, you need to act fast! these foods can cause vomiting, renal failure, fever, just to name a few. Contact us as soon as possible. If something like this occurred out of hours, calling our us will give you instructions on how to get in touch with our out of hours service.
