When you have fabulous owners who work so hard to get those wins. After a hard day it’s so lovely to hear from Pretzel (picture for cuteness).

Hi everyone

I just wanted to celebrate Pretzel with you all. This might not seem much to anyone but to me, it was a fabulous day.

Now, Pretzel is a very complex little fellow who is very anxious and pretty much detests all dogs, even his own kind so walks can be incredibly stressful. Group walks are a huge no no. That’s why we’re never there.

The ONLY dogs he will happily spend time with are his brother Otis and Julie Cook’s dogs Frank and Coco. They are his only friends.

Today we went out with his crew for nearly three hours and he was such a good boy. No snapping or growling at other dogs and no lunging. No protesting with walking. No backing out of his harness. He happily walked with the others. He actually had fun!

I’ve been working on Pretzel since 2020. There are no quick fixes unfortunately. Trust me, if there were, I would have used them.

I’ve had the expert guidance from Jackie Murphy at Specialist Dog Training who continues to guide me and offer support. She’s always been Pretzel’s biggest supporter and without her, I don’t know what would have happened. She’s an incredible lady.

So to anyone out there who is struggling with their furry friends, don’t give up and celebrate even the smallest of wins.

Many years ago (2016) I wrote a post about off lead dogs in the park. It is as relevant today as it was back then. Please if you see a dog being put back on its lead, call your dog back and place it back on lead or an owner ask you to call your dog back, then call your dog back. Neither is up for discussion and that owner has their own reasons for asking or placing their dog on lead.

Some good news to start, Bear has been promoted to barketing manager. Bear’s duties will span across varying elements of Specialist Dog Training, including head treat taster, head dog model to feature regularly in all our marketing content and playground supervisor to ensure maximum fun is experienced by all those in attendance here at Specialist Dog Training.
