This post is for 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙨 to help dog owners understand just how harmful matting can be for their pets. Matting isn’t just a cosmetic issue…it’s a serious welfare concern that can cause:

❌ 𝙋𝙖𝙞𝙣 & 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 – Mats pull tightly on the skin, causing irritation, bruising, and even sores.

❌ 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 & 𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙨 – Trapped moisture and dirt create the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive.

❌ 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 – Severe matting can tighten around legs, ears, and tails, making it painful for dogs to walk or move.

❌ 𝙃𝙞𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙨 – Mats can conceal wounds, parasites, or other skin conditions, delaying treatment.

Regular brushing and professional grooming are essential ✅ not just for appearance but for your dog’s comfort, health, and happiness! If your dog is already matted, please consult a professional groomer rather than trying to cut mats out yourself, as this can lead to injury.

If you are unsure how often you need to be brushing your dog or taking them to the groomers then don’t hesitate to drop me a message and I’d be more than happy to advise you- no shame here🤗

(Please note dogs that are presented to me with matting will be charged a fee on top of the groom price due to the time taken for de-matting etc).
