After a busy weekend it has been brought to our attention that a lot of people are struggling to find us. Sat nav and google earth takes them directly to Marios the Italian restaurant just up the road which is good if you’re hungry but not if you’re after some fish !
So have taken some photos of the house and the conservatory where the fish are housed to maybe help a little our phone number is on business page so please call or msg if you’re still struggling.

Routine skin scrapes, even more important this time of year as water temps rise and the immune system doesn’t start to kick in until 14-16 degrees. Always better to catch anything before it takes hold. If you don’t have a microscope just be extra vigilant spending time monitoring your fish.

Babies enjoying a bit of sunshine, water warming to 17 degrees in the raised bays so putting on weight by the day now but still at £9 each for 4-6 inches plus there’s a couple of biggies in there Steve has been too busy to notice !

Algae problems ? With the false Spring and cold snap hopefully firmly behind us the temperature in our private pond is warming nicely, we have frog spawn ! Warmer water temperatures kickstart the natural biological processes in the delicate ecosystem, plants are just starting to demand their nutrients but in low quantities and the fish are hungry. With all this comes the dreaded blanket w**d, if you can try to get on top of it early you will find yourself in the winning seat, we use Cloverleaf products because we know they work and are an affordable answer. Try to keep your filters as clean as possible and keep food to the bare minimum for now there will be a lot of natural food bugs etc in there for them to eat.
Try to net out as much of the dead blanket w**d as you can. Don’t expect instant results you may have to keep applying for a time,the aim is to starve the algae of what it needs to grow. It is wildlife and plant friendly, we have a lot of birds drinking and bathing at the waters edge so this is important to us. **d

Hand feeding Koi. Sunday morning whole grain Cheerios treat time ! Only given once a week but they love the different textures and taste kinda gets bit boring eating the same stuff all the time. We give slices of orange in the summer peel on so they float, added vit C to their diet they just strip the cartwheel from below. 🍊

Spring is definitely here although you wouldn’t know it with this horrible weather!
This is Jemima our wild Mallard who nests on the island of our private pond 3-4 times a year she’s such a good mum and we’ve just had the privilege of watching her 14 new chicks plunging into the chilly water for the first time. You can just see our large long fin Koi under the water probably wondering what on earth is going on ☺️
