We are really sorry to let you know that due to the death of the lovely owner, Nora Halstead, a few months ago Draughton Riding Centre has now closed.

Thank you everyone for your comments and messages yesterday.

Many of your comments actually made me cry and your good wishes for the future of DRC are really appreciated more than you can know.

What I loved to hear the most were those saying how we had started a lifelong love of riding and horses for you - what a lovely thing that is - It is what it was all about for us.

We are really sad to let you know that we have decided to close as a Riding School at the end of this month and continue on as a Livery Yard only.

This has been a genuinely hard decision for us as we have been teaching riding for around 30 years and we have a lot of lovely memories of so many of you.

We are not parting with any of the horses or ponies and they will continue to be loved and looked after here at Draughton.

If you have gift vouchers that you want refunding please send them back to us with your bank details and we will sort that out for you.

We will miss you all and we’re really sorry that many of you will be upset about the closure but due to various reasons we feel this is the way we need to go forward.

Thank you to all of you who have ridden with us, supported us and worked with us over the years.

We have a couple of livery stables available if anyone is looking soon. We have an indoor school, lovely hacking and a friendly, helpful group of staff and liveries. BHS approved Livery Yard.

We have an active WhatsApp group so liveries can work around each other’s times to ensure safety for everyone.

Hi Everyone- hope you’re all staying safe and well.

A few people have asked if we’re starting lessons again now due to the new guidelines.

Unfortunately we are unable to start again at the moment due to furloughed staff and staff that are trying to shield at risk family members.

We are also concerned that we cannot keep a sufficient distance for riders who need help with riding, stirrups, girth’s etc.

We will keep you all updated with any changes as soon as we are able to.

Sorry I know this is disappointing but your safety and the safety of our team is our top priority.

Following the guidelines issued yesterday we are putting these guidelines in place until anything changes.

All lessons private or group are cancelled until we are advised otherwise by the authorities.

As you can still exercise once a day liveries can still come to the yard and (due to staff shortages) we will also need you to help with the general care of your horses. Please do not jump your horses and restrict riding where possible and do groundwork wearing appropriate safety equipment at all times.

Please don’t bring other friends or family members with you.

Maintain your distance with staff and other liveries.

Use the hand Sanitiser on arrival and use the hand washing facilities provided.

Take a copy on your horse passport in the car with your own I.d.

We will update these guidelines as necessary.

Morning everyone

Following the updated guidelines by the British Horse Society
we are now taking bookings for limited private or semi private lessons Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10 and 3.

If you would like to book in please phone 01756 710242.

Obviously if guidelines change we will let you all know.

British horse society has now revised its initial statement and said we can still do private lessons or very small groups.

Sunday groups are still unfortunately cancelled this week but if you have private lessons booked through the week we can still do these.

All very confusing at the moment but hope we get it all sorted out soon.

Will keep you all updated as we find out more.

We have sadly just received the following information from the British Horse Society and are therefore having to close the Riding stables down effective immediately until further notice.
Hope to see you all again in the not too distant future.

Due to staff shortages we are having to cancel Thursday evening lessons until further notice.

All other lessons are unaffected at the moment.

We have implemented safety measures as stated previously to help keep everyone safe.

COVID-19

The health and welfare of our clients,liveries, staff and volunteers is as always our top priority and we are doing everything we can during this Corona outbreak to keep the risk of infection as low as possible.

Following official guidelines we are remaining open at the moment and we have implemented the following procedures accordingly.

Please do not visit the yard if you show any signs of coughs, colds or fever.

HAND SANITISER
Hand Sanitiser is located in the arena by the entrance and hand washing facilities are in the toilet on the bottom yard.
Please use these on arrival and departure from the yard.

GLOVES
Riders are required to wear gloves when handling or riding the horses and these need to be washed between visits.

SPECTATORS
To avoid large groups of people on the yard we request that only one parent/guardian accompany their children to lessons.

CLEANING
All tack and equipment will be cleaned with antibacterial cleanser regularly.

Unfortunately we have to ask you to avoid going around to see the horses and ponies in their stables until further notice.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you all updated with any advice or restrictions imposed by official guidelines.
