It’s very warm today don’t forget our top tips to keep your dogs cool!☀️🌻

As the warmer weather is coming I just wanted to share this.

⛔️ Missing walks will not harm your dogs!
⛔️ Never leave your dog in a hot car!

Top Tips for Summer

☀️ Provide your dog with plenty of fresh water (metal bowls keeps the water cooler for longer).
☀️ Have lots of shady areas for your dog.
☀️ Fan/AC are great for keeping them cool inside.
☀️ Enrichment! Kees your dog mentally stimulated.
☀️ Walk your dog when it’s cooler (early morning/late at night).
☀️ Frozen treats (doggy ice cream).
☀️ Paddling pool.
☀️ Cooling products such as bandanas, cooling mats.
☀️ Damp towel for them to lay on.
☀️ Dog safe suncream.

Signs of heat stroke

❗️ Heavy panting
❗️ Glazed eyes
❗️ Rapid pulse
❗️ Excessive salvation
❗️ Lack of coordination
❗️ Vomiting/diarrhoea
❗️ Loss of consciousness

If you notice any of these signs please seek veterinary attention.

It’s great to see that positive reinforcement training is being used more and more each day by trainers and owners!

At Poppy & Daisy’s Dog Training School we do not condone the use of shock collars, spray collars, hitting etc.

Our aim is to build the relationships we have with our dogs and guide them through our crazy world 🐾🐾

Does your dog struggle at the vets? You’re not alone!

This is Daisy (one of my girls) she used to be terrified of the vets after a few bad experiences. We have been working with our new and amazing vets for the past year.

At home we have been practicing a lot of cooperative care behaviours such as injections (no needles used), handling, teeth checks, heart checks and getting her ready for her kennel cough vaccine (see below).

This has increasingly helped Daisy’s confidence and given her the choice to participate in our health checks.

Please feel free to contact me if you’d like to work on getting your dogs ready for their next vet visit!

With the severe weather warning for today, I just wanted to say keep yourselves and your pups safe!

It won’t harm for your dog to miss a walk for today, however there are lots of ways for you to keep your dog busy and mentally stimulated!

- Snuffle mats or balls
- Licki mats or bowls
- Cardboard boxes
- Food puzzles
- Train a new behaviour
- Play find it

There are so many options!
