XL Bully owners, this is your one week reminder! ⏰

From 1 February 2024 in England and Wales, it will be a criminal offence to own an XL Bully, unless you have a valid Certificate of Exemption (CoE).

You have until midday Wednesday 31 January to get your application in for a CoE. The cost of a CoE is £92.40 and you are now only able to do this online. To apply, you must have third party public liability insurance for your dog which is provided by our friends at Dogs Trust 🐕

Learn how to muzzle train your dog 📢🐶👩‍⚕️

If your dog needs to wear a muzzle, either at the Vets or while they’re out and about, it’s important to make sure they’re trained to happily wear one. You can do this by introducing them to it at their own pace and with lots of rewards, so they think of it as a positive thing 👏

Our training advice includes:
✅ A step-by-step guide that will keep your dog comfortable during training
✅ Recommendations on the right type of muzzle for your dog
✅ Guidance on ensuring the size of the muzzle is right for your dog

Training your dog to get used to a muzzle will need patience ⚠️ Please don’t be tempted to rush it, as this is likely to scare your dog and make it progressively harder to put the muzzle on each time you try.

Our Gerry💙
Very sad day for us all here today as our gorgeous Gerry passed away this morning💔

Lots of you will recognise Gerry as he was always about, tormenting the dogs or nagging customers for a fuss.

Gerry come to retire with us at the kennels in January 2021, he was a stable cat for many years beforehand after he was rescued. We never knew how old he was but we all knew he wasn’t a spring chicken.

He melted all of our hearts and became Sweeps very best friend, they spent many chilly days cuddled up together on top of the tumble dryer and sunny days playing in front of the dogs to wind them up.
We will miss him so very much but we know he enjoyed his last few years eating lots, sunbathing and sleeping💙

❤️It’s nearly the Kings Coronation so we’ve been getting in the spirit.💙
First up is Ryko, he might be an American Akita but this weekend he’s waving the British flag with us to celebrate the coronation.
Ryko has been kennelling with us since the beginning of January☹️ and is looking for a new home due to no fault of his own.
He is nearly 2 years old, a real sweetheart but just needs some more basic training as he is big and bouncy.
If you think you could give Ryko a home please contact us.
He won’t be suitable for families with children under 10 or cats and small animals but should be okay with a spayed female dog.
