Huge Congratulations to everyone on your Kennel Club Good Citizen Award achievements. ๐
You all did amazingly well.
Huge thanks to Iain for assessing for us once again.
Hopefully we'll be holding another session soon ๐
Over the next 2 days we're going to experience hotter than average temperatures.
Common sense should tell us that our dogs need extra care when it's hot.
Some dogs, such as Brachycephalic ( short nosed, flat faced) breeds, elderly , heavy coated , puppies & those recuperating from surgery, need even more care.
Ensure they have access to cool water at all times, use fans to circulate air, damp towels to lay on are helpful too.
Walks should only take place very early or late in the evenings, or skipped altogether if necessary.
Dogs in the UK don't have time to acclimatise to hot weather, only last week we had rain and low temperatures. You may find if you give your dog a good groom you'll get lots of undercoat out.
If your pale skinned dog has recently been clipped, or has pink nose or ears, don't forget the sun block.
Keep them safe. !!
Az, Camiyah, Charlie & Zoe have all made the UK Hoopers league finals which are being held next month ๐พ๐
Miss Trix showing the youngsters how it's done!
Some of the moves we teach in our improvers class.
With an older dog, like Miss Trix, this becomes part of our fitness routine too.
These simple exercises ensure the dog bends both ways and engage their hind legs.
You can see by her body language that Miss Trix loves to work, despite having a few medical issues.
If you teach the basics clearly and correctly your dog learns to follow your cues and everything becomes so much easier.
