Catherine is an avid animal lover who’s IMDT trained (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) and Level 5, Professional Canine Behaviourist (Canine Principles) trained. Catherine is gold member of NARPS, the association of professional dog walkers and pet sitters. Accredited and certified courses covering:

Catherine has 6 of her own rescue dogs, all from significantly dysfunctional backgrounds, so understands how much patience, rehabilitation and understanding some dogs need to feel happy and secure. Pet Trails will always work with your pet as an individual, based on their needs and making sure we fully support them growing in confidence and happiness. We believe that working to your pets boundaries and time frames are imperative to form a successful bond, so we don't push your pets to do anything they feel uncomfortable about doing. It's essential to gain trust and to work on the pets terms, to have a long lasting respectful, trusted and happy relationship. We are 100% reliable, flexible, trustworthy and we provide a service which allows you to fully trust us with your pets and home. Our Beautiful Gang This Week – Part 1 ❤️

We truly believe we have some of the most wonderful dogs in the world, and it shows in the way they interact with one another. Contrary to some people’s beliefs that dogs shouldn’t be placed in social groups, our carefully created playgroups demonstrate just how beneficial and enriching the right group dynamics can be for a dog’s well being.

Creating safe, balanced dog social groups is both an art and a skill. It’s not an easy thing to do! It requires a deep understanding of canine body language, social thresholds, play styles, breeds and individual temperaments. Each dog in our care is very carefully and thoughtfully matched - not based on our convenience, or their location, but on each dog’s compatibility, energy levels, and genuine social preferences.

Many of our dogs have grown up together, forming strong, trusting bonds over time, while others have been gradually integrated into the groups with trained and experienced supervision, ensuring the dogs only have positive experiences.

The result - a happy, cohesive group where every dog is comfortable, confident, and socially engaged. We never allow any dog to feel overwhelmed - instead, we encourage and manage the flow of mutual and appropriate play, that is respectful, balanced, and consent-based. Proper play is not about lots of high energy, or rough and tumble, it’s about choice, self-regulation, human- regulation (we manage the flow of energy and closely monitor play at all times, by refocusing the dogs and breaking play regularly for treats and human/dog engagement and shared enjoyment).

All our dogs listen to us and respond to us as soon as we call them and we’re with them in the thick of play at all times. We never sit down and let the dogs get on with it. Ever! We’re responsible for their safety and well-being and that means we engage with our dogs constantly throughout every minute they’re in our care ❤️

It’s so lovely to see our dogs get so excited when they see their friends in the vans and to watch them play with such strong social skills and enthusiasm. Watching these relationships blossom week after week is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do and we’re very lucky to call this our work! ❤️🙏😊
