Let's debunk a myth about dog boarders shall we?

Just because someone says they're a dog boarder, does not mean that LEGALLY they're a dog boarder.

To board dogs legally you have to have a license, you have to be inspected by the council, and you have to have a vet report.

You also have to have a huge amount of paperwork, a number of emergency plans, and pay a lot of money for the privilege.

If you don't have these then you are not a dog boarder.

Now is the perfect time to start planning for next year's holiday.

My advice to you is don't book dates and then hope your dog boarder will be free, ask your boarder what they have available and then book your holiday dates around theirs.

Holidays are for relaxing, not for worrying if your pets are safe and happy.

One of the best things about my work (apart from the pets) is that no two days are the same.

I have to admit that on holiday by day 6 of lying on a sun lounger I did start to get a bit restless.

Which is why I change the theme every month for our Rebarkable Dog Adventures.

It means the dogs get to try lots of different activities, play new games and try new challenges.

Their Pawlympics skills in July were worthy of a number of gold medals.

Today is GCSE results day!

The last time I was here it was for my son, he was the first cohort who didn't take an exam due to Covid. Whilst collecting the results was stressful, we did have a few other things to worry about which put a lot of things into perspective.

This time round the exams have been done so it feels very different.

When I was younger I wanted to leave school at 16 and work in a bank.

I just about managed to scrape enough grades to get into college and do my A-Levels

I still wanted to work in a bank, but decided to do my A-Levels first.

Despite what my teachers told me, I did end up going to university.

After which I worked in hotels, worked in finance, worked in marketing, worked in gardening (???)

My French GCSE only helps me when I need to ask 'where are the rubbish bins?'
My Biology GCSE only helps me when I need to dissect a pigs heart!
and my Maths GCSE only helps me when I need to remember what pi is in a pub quiz.

To all the teenagers getting their results today who haven't quite got what they wanted...please remember that there are great entrepreneurs out there who didn't get the grades and are successful millionaires and billionaires that we can all aspire to.

Remember. . .

Exams only test your ability to remember!

Hopefully one day the education system will change 🤞

This was one of my holiday reads.

It was originally read by my teenage daughter, but as the author Shelley Wilson is a friend of mine I decided to have a read too.

Oh my gosh, I read it within two days and now need to buy the sequel!

Here’s why this book was a must-read for me:

1. I’ve taken several of Shelley's courses on book writing and business building, so I knew her book would be fantastic—and it didn't disappoint!

2. Shelley is a local businesswoman who continually inspires me in so many ways.

3. Plus, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after her lovely cat, Luna!

One of my big dreams is to write a book, and I have countless post-it notes filled with ideas.

Reading Shelley's book has truly reignited that passion within me.

All I can say is... watch this space! ✨

I’m Caroline, the proud Chief P**p Picker Upper at The Pet Sitter Solihull and Rebarkable Dog Adventures. 🐾

But don’t worry, I’m not doing it alone! I’m backed by an incredible team who are just as passionate about your pets as I am.

🐶 Jules, our fabulous dog boarder, transforms into your dog's holiday mummy whenever you’re away. She’s an expert at keeping them safe, loved, and well exercised!

🐱 Tina, our wonderful cat carer, ensures your feline friends (and your home!) are happy and secure during your absence. She has a magic touch with cats!

🛠️ Paul, is my the behind-the-scenes hero, he keeps everything running like clockwork (including the home and me!). From managing the contents of our fridge, to the business finances, to overnight pet sits and dog walks, he’s always there to lend a helping hand.

My mission? To give your dogs not just a good walk but an adventure—teaching new tricks, playing fun games, and sparking their natural instincts with enriching activities.

Training for the 100(ish) meter race at the Pawlympics 🐾 requires a combination of speed, strength, technique, and mental preparation.

Here are Flynn's top three training tips that he shared after successfully achieving Gold 🥇 in today’s track event:

1. Unleash your inner speedster and sprint like you’re chasing a squirrel 🐿️

3. Stay flexy and bendy - stretch like a happy pup and be a mobile mutt! 🧘‍♂️🐕

He finished off by saying that it also helps to race against dogs that are distracted with doing zoomies! 🐕

Fancy trying this really simple enrichment game with your dog?

All you need is an old muffin tin, some treats, some tennis balls and your dog.

Pop a treat in each of the cups in the muffin tin.
Place a tennis ball on top of the treat.
Give the tin to your dog and let them work out how to get the treat.

Make it harder by only placing treats in a few of the cups.

Don't have enough tennis balls? Use scrunched up newspaper instead.

🎉🏅 Incredible performance at the BMX Pawstyle Pawlympics!

Daisy 'The Fast Paw Flyer' wowed the crowd with her flawless tricks, including a 360 tailwhip, backflip barspin, and a double tailwhip.

Her smooth, high-flying run earned a top score of 94.5, putting her in the lead.

Truly Pawlympic-worthy! 🚴‍♂️

Welcome to our weekly Pawlympics roundup, folks! What a start we've had! 🏆🎉

New personal pup bests have been shattered! David is absolutely thrilled to have clinched gold in the highly competitive fastest treat eater event! 🏅 Now, that’s some serious chomping!

Drama unfolded on the blue team as they faced a near disqualification over equipment tampering. However, they managed to stay in the race, showing resilience and determination! 💪

Over on the track, the red team might have missed the finish line initially and faced a few heckles from the crowd, but they rallied back spectacularly to secure gold in the 100-meter dash! 🏃‍♂️🥇 What a comeback story!

Stay tuned, sports fans, because Monday promises even more excitement as we welcome two new contestants to the arena. 🐾

During the summer of 2020 I was working as a carer for the elderly and I had a crazy idea to start a pet business.

All I needed to do was change my clientelle to a fluffier and cuter one.

Trouble was I knew nothing about dogs. I'd never owned one let alone walked one.

I knew nothing about reactivity, lead pulling, resource guarding, socialisation or aggression!

I was a cat person.

I went on a very steep learning curve.

I learnt about the importance of stimulation, enrichment and exercise.

And this is how I developed the Rebarkable Activity Adventures.

I'm not a lover of business network events but yesterday I went to one.

This one isn't your 'normal' networking event.

There were no 30 second pitches. ⏲️

There were no business card exchanges. 💼

And there was certainly no pressure to refer business. 🙅‍♂️

Instead, we had to share a song that would explain our business. 🎵

What did I choose?

I could have had "Who Let the Dogs Out" by Baha Men 🐶

Or I could have gone with "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley 🎸

What I chose was "Puppy Love" by Donny Osmond ❤️

Technically I don't look after puppies, but every dog was once a puppy. 🐕

What I loved about this event was even though I won't remember any names, I will remember the songs and the businesses. 🎶

There are plenty of other business networking events I could go to, but this is the one that I enjoy attending.

Because it's different.

Similarly, there are plenty of dog walkers, pet sitters, and boarders in the area. 🐾

But we are different!

How?

Each month we change the theme of the enrichment activities that we do with the dogs. 🎉

Each month we add new stickers into the dog's Activity & Canine Enrichment (A.C.E) Passports. 🏷️

Each month we give the dogs a new experience where they get to try different activities, learn new tricks and try new challenges. 🐕‍🦺

Next month we are off to Pawris to take part in the Pawlympics and your dog is invited to join Team Pawsome. 🏅

Here's some exciting news on National Hug a Cat Day! 💕

Our pet business journey began in January 2022, inspired by these two.

A simple challenge of finding the right care for our pets while we were away sparked the idea of starting our own pet service.

Fast forward 2½ years and it was the cat feeding side of the business that I was struggling to manage due to the success of the overnight pet sitting.

That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce our new superhero, Tina! 🎉 Tina is a passionate cat and dog lover who shares her home with both. She’ll be helping us with the cat feeding service, ensuring your fur babies get the best care possible.

Day care do, or day care don’t?

Busy working pawrents often rely on day care to help them out through the week.
But what if there was an alternative?

Benji’s owner decided to look at alternatives to day care and got in touch with me.

With a busy business to run, Benji's owner didn’t always have the time during the working day to give Benji the attention he needed. She got in touch with me to see if I could help and provide a service that would give Benji both mental and physical stimulation whilst introducing him slowly to a group environment.

As Benji’s confidence around other dogs was low we started with some solo walks. After a few weeks Benji was introduced to 2 other dogs and our Country Exploration Walks began. As Benji’s confidence grew he then joined the activity adventures with other carefully selected dogs.

Benji now gets to socialise with familiar dogs that he knows, he gets to explore new areas with his friends, he gets to learn new tricks, play new games and try some new challenges - his agility skills are pawsome!

Here's an easy activity you can try at home this weekend.

Make a scent box.

This box is filled with some old pieces of material rubbed with different scents.

The tin foil parcels are filled with cat nip.

You could add an old shoe, a hairbrush, leaves, twigs from the local park, an old piece of carpet.

The list is endless.

There are so many benefits to sniffing and your dog will love it.

Today is National Memo Day.

On our activity adventures I'm always trying to get the bunch of Rebarkables (collective name for all the dogs who join us) to try new things.

There is a saying that great things can happen once you step out of your comfort zone.

Don't worry I'm not expecting the Rebarkables to do solo parachute jumps, or abseil down tall buildings.

It's about trying new things and learning new activities.

Which is why as the pack leader I must teach by example.

Which is why as the pack leader I have entered myself in for the Pet Business Inner Circle Marketer of the Year Awards hosted by Grow Your Pet Business FAST with Dominic Hodgson.

I have to do a presentation in front of a packed room showcasing everything I have done to get my business to where it is today 😱

✅ All the monthly themes we have done on our Rebarkable Dog Activity and Adventures.
✅ The A.C.E Passports that we've just brought in.
✅✅✅ And who could forget The Rebarkable Pet Awards that we host each quarter.

Whenever I talk about our amazing holiday dog mummy, I always talk about Jules.

But her husband Dan also cares for the dogs too.

He has been known to provide excellent tummy tickles.

This time last week Dan was running through Birmingham taking part in the Great Birmingham Run.

He has raised over £2,000 for the Marfan Trust. Those who have boarded their dogs with Jules and Dan will know how they have been affected by Marfan Syndrome.

Dan is truly rebarkable!

This weekend kicks off the Parkour World Cup.

It is defined as the art of efficient movement through one's environment by overcoming physical obstacles using the body.

Barkour is the art of efficient movement by dogs through jumping, climbing, balancing over, crawling under, and going around different obstacles.

The environment offers many Barkour opportunities for dogs.

On our Rebarkable Dog Adventure this month we are learning a brand new 'dance routine'.

This involves running between cones, jumping, weaving and some spinning too.

Lots of Barkour activities.

A tree trunk is great too for practicing balancing, jumping, and for a rewarding game of treat hiding.
