It's difficult suffering from anxiety and unfortunately our precious pooches can experience this too πŸ₯Ί

Being very sociable animals, dogs need plenty of human companionship to feel safe and happy. When they are left alone, some dogs can feel distressed.

The return to work and school after the summer holidays can be a big change for dogs, so it's super important to understand the signs of separation anxiety and what you can do to prevent it ❀️

Read our vets' advice for more info on how to stop the signs, prevention and treatment: http://pdsa.me/mlD0

[Visual description: An infographic outlining treatment for separation anxiety in dogs. This includes: Getting your dog assessed by a certified behaviourist will help you understand why your dog feels the way they do. Making adjustments in your home such as building your dog a den/safe place and giving them a choice of activities to do when they are alone. Creating a routine for your dog so they know when you are leaving and what happens when you are out of the house can help build their confidence and reduce their anxiety. Remember to take your time. Managing separation related problems takes a lot of time, effort and commitment from owners. Most dogs will improve with the right help but this change is likely to take some time. Medication can help alongside behavioural therapy, but can usually be stopped once they’ve learnt to cope on their own.]
