We're moving!!!
Well, we're rebranding and growing!!
Our new FB page is over @ Canine Connections - don't worry this will be updated with the new branding in the coming week!
Our new business name is That Canine Co.
Head on over to our community group where we discuss all things dogs and really try to create a space of support for one another: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thatcaninecocommunity
We'd love for you to come along for the journey!
When we get stuck!
Yes even the professionals get stuck! This particular case has had me pickling my brains with lots of research around potential neurological issues with aggressive “attacks”. We’ve been making progress but it still wasn’t sitting well with me that we do not have a clear answer yet.
In search of getting a resolution for this lovely family I’ve been drawing on contacts who speacialise in different areas and today I considered an alternative approach on play based so brought in my amazing friend and colleague Canine Connections to support me and get a second pair of eyes.
You see whilst all of us whi work with dogs are pretty darn good at what we do, there are always going to be times where a second set of eyes is needed. I do not personally see this as a weakness but a great opportunity to collaborate and to continue stretching my brain to keep thinking outside the box.
This is also another reason why our programmes are over 3 and 6 months because if in this particular case we had done a consult only, we would be no further along in understanding what is going on and it’s likely this family would keep trainer hopping and getting lots of conflicting advice leaving this poor boy confused like his humans would have been.
I have high hopes for this boys outcome and looking forward to being a part of the continued journey
We’ve been working at creating some new content over the last few days and realised it’s just too funny to not share the bloopers!
So if you have a spare minute and want a laugh, please do enjoy 🤣
We'd like to share a glimpse into one of our current behaviour cases, where we are working closely with a brave client and their canine companion. The footage was provided by the client as they sought our guidance in addressing their dog's aggression.
At Paw Education, we know behaviour change is a gradual and intricate process that requires patience, commitment, and collaboration from all parties involved. As the behaviourist, my priority lies in ensuring safety, providing unwavering support, and offering valuable education throughout the journey.
Our comprehensive programme is tailored for the long term, aiming to support families and their beloved dogs every step of the way. From examining underlying emotions to considering environmental factors and past experiences, we dive deep into the multifaceted aspects of the dog's behaviour.
Collaboration with the veterinary team is fundamental to our approach. Clinical assessments are referred back to the vet, ensuring the holistic well-being of the canine client. Together, we create a tailored plan that aligns with the family's dynamics and lifestyle. We know it's not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Behind the scenes, extensive research takes place, enabling us to see the bigger picture and make well-informed decisions. While not always apparent, this behind-the-scenes work is crucial in developing effective behaviour modification strategies.
We believe in looking beyond the surface to create lasting change, where dogs and families can thrive together in harmony. Our journey has just begun, and we are eager to witness the positive transformations that lie ahead.
If you are facing behavioural challenges with your four-legged friend, remember that you are not alone. Reach out to us and get yourself added into our community group:

Amazing session with little Enzo the puppy this morning working on his recall skills. Today we worked on recall with a distraction he was awesome!
We had a brilliant time yesterday at our monthly group coaching session! Here we are learning about shaping. We decided it would be great fun to test it out on the owners whilst the dogs had a well deserved rest after some intense training 🐶🐾 #forcefreedogtraining #positivereinforcement #dogbehaviourist #dogbehaviourtraining #dogbehaviourspecialist
We like to say that we’re a little bit different from the norm, in reality, unless you work with us you’d never think or even know that.
Outside looking in, we’re just another dog trainer in an incredibly saturated market with endless competition for business with a massive array of choice for dog owners to choose from.
All dog trainers are the same right? They just charge different prices right?
Wrong.
So what the bloody hell are we going to start doing to get that message out?
Our commitment is to show you who we are, lay it all out, the highs and the lows!
When you work with us you truly become an extension of our family (those of you who work with us can of course vouch for this 😉) and we share everything! The joys, the tears and the frustration.
We LOVE what we do and we need to start shouting more about it!
Woohoo! Day twelve😊 Two more sleeps until Christmas 🎄🎅🏻
Today’s game is nose targeting! We love target work in fact it’s one of Kerry’s favourite games to teach! 😊
How to play:
Your dog will need to be confident with nose targeting to play, don’t worry if they are not we will post a video to explain how to begin.
If your dog know this behaviour do a couple of reps with them to warm them up, then get a piece of wrapping paper, post it or a bit of tissue paper not to big just enough that it covers your hand.
Once you have the paper ask them for a nose touch
Don’t worry if your dog doesn’t do it first time its all about practice 😊
Have fun!

Here it is day 11 🎅🏻🎄
Funder (fun and under 😊) is such a great game to play to build on confidence, proximity and helps with recall too!
How to play:
Throw a piece of food out in front of you to get them moving (make sure if you are playing this outside you use food that’s easy to find like cheese or chicken so it doesn’t blend in with the grass/mud)
Once they come running back towards you throw a piece of food between your legs so they have to run through your legs to get the piece of food. If you have a large dog you can throw the food to the side of you 😊
Whilst they are eating the food turn around to face the other way and throw the food through your legs again
It’s easy and so much fun but adds so much value to the relationship you have with your dog.
Don’t forget to wear Christmas pyjamas, if you do not have any, any Christmas wear will be fine 🎅🏻
