If you’re heading out in this cold and icy weather along paths and roads that have been gritted, please be aware that salt and de-icing chemicals can be harmful to your dog's paws. Many de-icing products contain chemicals that can burn or irritate your dog's paws, and they can even be toxic if ingested. So, when you get home and before you sit down with your warming cup of tea, it’s a good idea to wash your dog's paws to rinse off any potentially harmful substances. It's a small but essential step to protect your dog from the harsh chemicals that can linger on surfaces long after the snow has melted.
