🐶Issac🐶

Meet Isaac, he is a 10month old intact male sprocker looking for a new home.

His current owner has sadly had to make the difficult decision to rehome him, they have contacted 3 spaniel rescues, Dogs Trust & SSPCA and they are all full.

He is great natured but is currently not getting on with his brother, his owner has spoken to the rescues and their vet and all have suggested it is likely litter mate syndrome between them. Due to this poor Issac doesn’t want to come inside the house.

He gets on well with other dogs and currently lives with 2 small children.

We originally posted this back in 2019. But as it gets warmer, this feels like an ideal time to reshare.

Poisoned bees 🐝
On closer inspection of a sample, the bees were trembling and had their tongues stuck out and extended. These are the typical signs of poisoning by weedkiller. Bees only go to flowers, so please, please, refrain from spraying any plant in flower and this include weeds... This is why the council doesn't spray roadside verges anymore, and we can see how well the dandelions have prospered! - a favourite nectar and pollen crop for honey bees.

As swarm season begins here in Fife, please contact us if you see a swarm. Please do it quickly. Last year, many swarms were lost when they were ignored. This resulted in them going down chimneys, under the eaves, or in between the cavity walls of many properties. Most residents say they ignored them, hoping they would move in. They are then faced with a hefty bill from a local pest control company. Habitat loss means bees can't find that old hollow tree they crave, like they did fifty years ago, so please contact us. We have a team of local beekeepers across Fife who will come out as soon as possible, and, as we are all volunteers, we don't charge a penny.
Please share this post and remember, looking nothing like bumblebees, ONLY honey bees swarm and cluster round their queen.

The swallows are coming back. They weigh about 20 grams, but they covered more than 5000 km during the flight. They passed through the Sahara desert. They flew over the Mediterranean without having a break. They fought the rain and wind, and the scorching sun. They are extraordinary little beings. . And now they will live under the roofs of our homes and bear the offspring. Embrace their presence. Be kind to them. Respect them. One swallow can eat up to 850 flies and mosquitoes a day. One pair can kill about 1,700 flies and mosquitoes a day. There is no more effective and ecological insecticide ... Make them feel welcome here

Just a heads up for beginner gardeners if you see these little beasties in the garden they are your new best friend! I know that they look fierce (and they are to aphids) but these are the larva of ladybugs/ ladybirds and are marvellous at keeping the garden aphid free...
