We care for all small animals species. VidiVet - Access to a vet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

Since December 2023, we have been partnering with Vidivet, to enable us to improve our patient care and customer service, especially during the times the clinic is closed.

With Vidivet, you are able to send a message, photo or video to Vidivet, if you have any worries or concerns. You will receive a personalised response from the vet, giving you advice.

All our clients can use VidiVet App free of charge. Clients were sent an email with the link to registering with VidiVet through Westport Vets for free.

Prepare for New Year - Pet Medication for Fireworks

Please ensure to plan ahead in case your pet needs seen and medication may need to be ordered.

If pets have not been seen by a vet recently, they will need an appointment with the vet
for dispensing medication.

If they haven't been seen by a vet in 12 months, an appointment with the vet is required. If they have been seen recently, they may just require a telemedicine consult via phone or video call. The team can advise when you contact them to get this arranged.

❄️Winter Dangers - Festive Food

As much as we enjoy festive food items, many are toxic to pets:

❌️Chocolate - contains a stimulant called theobromine, which is toxic if ingested.

❌️Mince Pies and Christmas Pudding - raisins, currants, and sultanas are highly toxic if ingested.

❌️Alcohol - highly toxic if ingested.

❌️Gravy and stuffing - gravy can be high in fat, and stuffing contains onions which are toxic.

❌️Turkey skin and bones - skin is high in fat and although we recommend you should avoid feeding any bones to pets, turkey bones are high risk as easily splinter.

❌️Nuts - many are toxic to pets and risk gastrointestinal blockages.

❌️Cheese - high lactose content can be difficult for pets to digest.

Contact your vet immediately if your pet may have eaten something toxic.

Stray Cat Rescue's Christmas Hamper 2024.
Raffle tickets are now on sale at Westport Veterinary Clinic Linlithgow.

Whole hamper worth approx £300!
Raffle tickets are £1 per strip (cash payment or can pay using QR code available) and will be drawn on Saturday 21st December. The hamper will be delivered to the winner by Stray Cat Rescue.

All proceeds go directly to Stray Cat Rescue Fife (Reg No:SC051606) to help treat and support cats in their care.

▪️Hamper contents donated by Morrisons, Tesco & Scotmid plus Jellycat Company has donated an original 'Jellycat Jack' soft toy (RRP £40).
▪️Consists of a large selection of Christmas foods and chocolate goodies as well as 4 x bottles alcohol (Gordon’s Gin, Smirnoff Vodka, M&S Clementine Gin Liqueor Light Up Snowglobe and Rose Prosecco).
▪️Star Prizes donated by the companies - an overnight stay for 2 at the Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket with Breakfast plus Afternoon Tea for 2 at Edinburgh Willow Tea Rooms.

Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children's annual event which raises money for the children who need it most. Christmas Jumper Day has raised over £30 million for children in the UK and around the world since it began in 2012.

Team Westport and the pets are taking part in Christmas Jumper Day 2024 today Thursday 12th December.

'Christmas Jumper Day is Save the Children's annual event which raises money for the children who need it most. Christmas Jumper Day has raised over £30 million for children in the UK and around the world since it began in 2012.'

'Every December, millions of people across the United Kingdom (and beyond!) put on a festive knit at their workplace, school or with friends and make a donation to help give children the magical future they deserve.'

National Pet Eye Health Awareness Week 2024 (16th-22nd September) Corneal Ulcers are a common eye issue we see in cats and dogs. Most ulcers in dogs and cats are the result of trauma – i.e. scratches during walks, thorns, playing or scratches from other animals. Other causes of ulceration are dry eye, eyelid anomalies (entropion, ectopic cilia) or primary abnormalities of the cornea – like spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects (SCCED). Always get any changes to pets eyes or issues checked by a vet immediatly. Our Story

Westport Veterinary Clinic is a locally owned, independent practice, dedicated to providing the best possible care to your pets. We have been serving the local community for over 30 years. We have dedicated dog and cat wards, recovery kennels, digital x-ray (including dental) and ultrasound while also offering complete soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgeries in our full sterile theatre. We have laboratory facilities that allow us to run a number of in-house tests, with all results assessed by our highly skilled team of Veterinary Surgeons. We are also excited to offer behaviour consultations and acupuncture treatments. We also offer our Friends of Westport plan - a preventative health care plan with full routine vaccination cover as well as year round flea, worming, lungworm and tick cover. Our clinical team will advise you on in order to provide the best possible care for your pet. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call.
