Here we have Skye, who as you can see was quite reactive at the sound of someone entering the front garden. That window blind in the first video had been replaced a few times 🙈

Skye was also reactive towards people knocking at the door or entering the home. Part of the problem was that she would become overwhelmed, over excited, and over stimulated. As a result she would jump on people and bark repeatedly as they entered the home.

In our sessions, we used a leash to direct Skye and teach her good manners. As time goes by we can remove the leash, but it is a great way to communicate with our dogs in the early stages of training.

We also desensitised Skye to knocking sounds so that she would not feel the need to bark at the door constantly.

Well done to Skye's family for putting in the hard work! Our dog's can be difficult at times, but through consistency and the right training, we will help our dog's out of behaviours that may be unsettling or undesirable.

I often ask our clients if their dogs are allowed on the sofa. I'd say 9 out of 10 clients look at me all ashamed and whisper ' yes' 😅

It's totally OK to allow your dog on your sofa...as long as they are well behaved, well mannered and polite!

As you can see here...my dog, Rosie, is a little sofa bug! 🐛 🐾

Carol contacted us as Maggie was extremely reactive when she saw other dogs...even if they were quite some distance away!

Maggie was also reactive to people and children. This made walks difficult and something neither Carol or Steve looked forward to.

It's important to note here that reactivity in small dogs is just as important to fix as it is in large dogs. 🐾

A small dog may not be strong enough to pull you over...but they are feeling stressed / anxious/ overwhelmed all the same .

We worked on some basic manners, leash work and thresholds to ensure Maggie felt better about seeing people, children and other dogs while on a walk.

Massive well done to Carol and Steve for putting in the hard work! Maggie came along brilliantly with the issues we faced in our sessions. 🐶

This is why it is super important to buy from a respectable breeder!

Personally, I'm team rescue...but if you want to buy a puppy you NEED to ensure you are buying from a good person.

🐾Key things to look for:

- You will be able to meet both parents and see their full history, breeding lines and medical exam. Both dogs will be fit and healthy.

-Their home will be clean and tidy.

- You will sign a document that states you will recieve compensation ( money back) if your puppy develops certain health issues in a specific time frame .

Don't buy from bad breeders. Do not allow them to continue their cruelty by providing them with the money they did it for.

Please do not give your dog away for free or sell them to someone you barely know via social media!

Believe it or not, dog fights still happen here in the UK. The awful people who participate in these events do not always look as you would expect either!

Usually, they will surf social media looking for dogs who are free or going cheap. Often times, it is a woman who will send the message and pick up the dog.

This is because these ladies look nice and seem loving and polite. Wolf in Sheep's clothing comes to mind!

We once had a client who's dog was taken away from their previous owner.

This poor dog was one of 2 dogs the original owner had. The owner found great pleasure in allowing his first dog to repeatedly attack the second dog. This sick individual allowed this behaviour because it was his entertainment.

Our client adopted this dog from a shelter and we worked with them for months to get their dog to a state where they did not completely break down at the sight of another dog.

If you need to rehome your dog...please go through a shelter. Most of them will allow you to keep your dog in your home while they list them on their website.

Be careful. Keep dogs safe.

If you have a couple of dogs and things are starting to get heated...you must get help as soon as possible!

Things can escalate very quickly, and the worse it gets...the harder it is to resolve.

Sandra got in touch as her two dogs had become aggressive towards each other.

The aggression started with Rory and as time went on, Bruno started to become aggressive too.

I had a number of sessions with Sandra and explained what training and life adjustments would be needed to eventually be able to allow both dogs to have free rein of the house without attacking eachother.

Unfortunately it was proving very difficult for Sandra to dedicate enough time for what was needed and she made the decision to rehome Bruno.

A rehome is always a last resort, we always try training first. In this case though, it was the best option for Sandra, and that's OK.

Sandra is now focusing on Rory, and his behaviour has improved massively! We will show updates over the next couple of weeks🐾

Well done Sandra for the progress you have made with Rory!

I sometimes get asked how people can help their dog through the grieving process when one of their other dogs has passed away. This can be an incredibly difficult time, but we must do our best to ensure our living dogs do not sink into depression or unwanted behaviours.

The best thing for your dog is to allow them to carry on their life as normal. Try not to overcompensate for the loss of your other dog by giving too much affection to the living dog.

Dogs who receive a lot more attention after the loss of another dog typically find it harder to move on. They often start to develop separation anxiety too!

It is also important to understand that dogs pick up on our energy. If you and the family are extremely sad and grieving...your living dog will feel the same. Dogs often mirror how their owners feel.

Some dogs will lose their appetite, and often people resort to hand feeding. I know it's hard, but please try not to do this. It is a habit that your dog till struggle to get out of, and as I said...it is important to give your living dog the same life ( or as close as possible ) as it had previously.

Giving a living dog special treatment while grieving is so easy for us to fall into, but in the long run it actually causes more damage to their mental health.

As long as you carry on the living dog's routine as it was before, they should move on in their own time. 🐾

Jade contacted us as life with her Rodhesian Ridgeback had become extremely difficult! Reeva had many problems including: -Biting people -Jumping up -Reactivity towards people entering the home -Pulling on the leash -Separation anxiety -Possessiveness over certain items -Refusing to end games and biting to prevent the game ending -Stressed behaviour when wearing a muzzle Due to Reeva's size and power, these behaviours were very painful for those she did them too. Previously Jade had lots of scratches and bite marks from Reeva. Jade has put in an amazing amount of work with Reeva and she is now doing brilliantly 👏 Jade and Reeva had 3 sessions with us over the course of 4 weeks and the difference is night and day.
