We may not be the largest establishment but we hope this enables us to provide a more personal service. We can offer group or private lessons, hacks out (once an initial assessment lesson has been carried out). There's always something going on for children during school holidays. They can join us for our ever popular Pony Care Days or take part in small competitions where fun and learning are key, but the rosettes are always a bonus!
Due to schools not going back till Wednesday next week we have decided to add in a pony care morning session next Tuesday 10am -12pm ☺️
£35 includes one hour of care , 30 minute lesson and a 30 minute hack out , spaces will go quick so book before its too late 🐴☺️

Sunday 8th September is Great North Run day.
Although it is possible to get to us from Sunderland side all of the day and South Shields side is accessible early on, could riders please let us know as soon as possible if they are unable to attend their lesson that day as we will amalgamate lessons where possible?

A small stab in the heart is what you feel when you put up the day's riding list and you see riders sinking heavily in their shoulders when reading which horse they are assigned for the lesson. A small stab in the heart for that horse that for an hour will carry around a rider who has already decided that he does not like his horse. A small stab in the heart for the horse that did not choose the rider himself but still does his best, lesson after lesson.
Riding is a privilege and something you have chosen to do. If you chose to ride at a riding school, your instructor assumes that you actually want to learn how to ride. The instructor's highest wish is that you get good at it.
Often there is a plan and a thought as to why you are assigned to that exact horse. Before you mount up next time, ask yourself "what can this horse teach me today?" All horses have something to give, a feeling or a new tool in the box.
The art is actually in being able to get a lazy horse to move forward, to get an uncertain horse to gain confidence, a naughty horse to focus or a tense horse to be released. It takes work. If you think a horse is boring, it's more likely that you don't ride the horse as well as you think! It's not easy to be confronted with your own shortcomings, but it is in that very situation that you get the chance to truly grow as a rider.
The excuse that "it's not my kind of horse" is actually a really bad excuse. A good rider can ride any kind of horse. A good rider has trained many hours on different types of horses to become a good rider. A good rider can find and manage the gold nuggets in every horse.
If we absolutely want to ride, it is our duty to strive to do it as best as possible, even if it's only for fun. We owe it to every horse that carries us upon it's back.
Our first mini jockeys session from Tuesday what a morning we had ☺️ with the beautiful sunshine ☀️
The children arrived at 10am, firstly we made our ponies look like true unicorns, (which the parents also enjoyed )🦄, before learning about the different uses of brushes when giving their ponies a pamper and learning to tack up their ponies ready for riding, we then got the ponies lunchtime hay nets all ready for when we returned from our ride 🐴.
Our 60 minute riding session was filled with fun as we learnt , stop , steering , moving on and trotting before playing some pony games , before heading out for a walk round the beautiful Whitehorse quarry where we put our trotting practice from the arena to work out and about 😁. All of the children then got their hard earned rosettes 🏵️.
We have many more available dates during the rest of the holidays for just £35 suitable for children 4yrs+ from any level or anyone just wanting their children to try something different 😁🐴

One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kids to ride horses?" Well I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids to ride horses.
So, if I am not paying for them to ride, what am I paying for?
- I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't.
- I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go to the yard but go anyway.
- I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined.
- I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body.
- I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates.
- I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don't get that score they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the grading.
- I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals.
- I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight.
- I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships.
- I pay so that my kids can be in the arena instead of in front of a screen...
..I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for horse riding, I pay for the opportunities that horse riding provides my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!

We will be running pony care days through out the 6 weeks holiday , a chance for your child to learn what horse riding is all about !!! Message Facebook or instagram or ring to book don’t miss out !!
We run an hour care session where the riders learn how to brush and tack up their horses and learn all about the daily tasks owning a horse involves 🐴 then we have a 30 minute group lesson in the arena before heading out for a lovely walk round our local quarry 🤩

Thurs 25th 10.30am One Hour Hack. Riders must be confident in canter, having been previously assessed by ourselves. £34
Fri 26th July “Alfies Gymkhana” 10am start. This is the only one this year!
A fun day with jumping, and games for all abilities. Rosettes for everyone! Points Trophies to be won too! This event has been running for almost 50 years! Come and be part of our history! Jumping £10 per class or all 4 for £38. Games £35 for all 4
Week 2
Tues 30th July 10am til 12pm Pony Care and Riding session. Riders should already be riding off Lead Rein for this. Learn about looking after a pony, enjoy a group lesson and a rosette too! £35
Wed 31st Aug Jumping Morning 10am til 10.45 Beginners lesson. Riders. must have started cantering for this. Aimed at those who have never jumped or have never ridden a course of jumps. £28

Today was our first show of the year. After some horrendous weather this week, causing a very muddy horse's field, the girls worked so hard yesterday getting them clean, only to have to repeat it all again this morning!
Everyone pulled together and helped each other and the results were fantastic! Thank you to Helen Rackstraw, our judge and Julie High Stephenson, her steward. A hard day's work ladies! Well done to you all, you did us proud! 👏 😊

Our first beach ride with our adult riders on Friday night, horses & riders had a great time despite the rain! How lucky are we to have this on our door step!
After an afternoon bath, Ringo couldn't wait to return to his normal slightly grubby self! This was roll number two and first one only dirtied one side!
Riding to "live" music, not added later, helps riders work on rhythm and the horses seem to react to it too! This is yesterday morning's ladies group. 😊
