💚We stand with you💚

A very different kind of post today, but a very important one that hits home with us as a family.

After today it will be illegal in the U.K. to breed, sell, gift, receive and abandon an XL “typed” breed of dog.

After today thousands of healthy and happy dogs will be put to sleep by owners who have bred for profit and gain and abandoned them in their hour of need. Owners who didn’t care enough to keep them safe. Owners that couldn’t do what it took to give them their best life.

These dogs did nothing to deserve this brutality. Nothing more than simply fitting a government implemented “type” list. Many of which our own dog Misty fits the criteria for, but being an Old Tyme Bulldog does not make her a target.

Sending love and respect to the many volunteers, rescues and shelters who have worked tirelessly to rehome and rescue the thousands of abandoned and neglected dogs since the enforcement was announced.

We stand with you today. Hardly a day for celebration as nothing ends today. In time to come it’ll only be a waiting game until another breed is ignorantly put in the firing line. Which dog breed will the humans in charge fail next?

🧷One Year in Cloth🧷

This time last year we talked about making a new years green pledge 🌱 A sustainable swap you would endeavour to keep up, hopefully for a whole year - if not a lifetime! ♻️

Our family decided to launch into cloth nappies last January for our boy Rocco. It was tricky to try and get into a rhythm, and honestly at first I felt like all I was doing was washing, drying and folding new nappies! But we got there and built up a stash and a system that really worked for us. And thank you to everyone who’s chipped in with advice along our cloth bum journey!

So we counted how many nappies we saved from landfill for a year, we had spells of eco friendly disposables for trips away, daycare and explosive butts from illness, and honestly I’m pretty sure I just forgot to count at times! 😅 but I’m pleased to reveal we managed to save…

Happy new year to all our followers, we hope that you all enjoyed a fun festive season with your loved ones!

🌍 Some good news to start 2023 with!

The U.K. government has announced a nationwide ban of plastic and polystyrene single use cutlery, food boxes & trays!

It’s not entirely sure when this will come into effect but it is sure to make a massive impact.

It’s estimated that 1.1 billion single-use plates and more than 4 billion pieces of plastic cutlery are used in England every year.

And as we know, plastic will stay in landfill long after we will be around.

We can always do more, but this is a great step in the direction to combat single use plastic!

💚 A New Chapter 💚

Hello friends, Lucy here! Today is my last day of maternity leave. I had the year off from my day job to fully immerse myself in new found mummyhood and by extension, we put DGG a little on the back burner too.

We’ve still been busy behind the scenes and thank you to the loyal customers who have still put your orders in even while we took a little hiatus from social media 🥰 it truly means the world to a small business like us!

So tomorrow a new chapter begins! Back to work, and hopefully back to being a little more present here! ☺️

💚 A Very Misty Update 💚

It must seem like we have fallen off the radar when it came to social media but we’ve been busy as a family on other ventures, beavering away behind the scenes and just generally running around after our almost one year old and cheeky doggo! But as some of you were asking about how our girl was doing, we thought you all deserved an update.

⭐️ GOOD NEWS ⭐️ Misty is now over two months in recovery from her double TPLO surgery and has been given the “all clear” from the vets! Woohoo! 💪 she’s coped SO well and has exceeded all our expectations. Couldn’t be prouder of our strong little girl!

And in other news, it’s also Misty’s 4th Gotcha Day today! 😭 (where has that time gone?!) ➡️ swipe for a peep at our puppy girl 🥺

Apologies for the absence online, but if you could all send our big, little girl Misty all your love and healing vibes today it would be much appreciated 💚

She’s going under today for knee surgery on both legs after struggling off and on and just generally being the bravest, sweetest, bestest and goodest girl ever.

It’s her 4th birthday on Saturday so we want nothing more than for today to go well and to have her back, recovering with us as soon as she’s able to.
