Longdown Farm Facts: Shetland ponies are a native breed of the Shetlands in Scotland, they grow up to 42 inches Chesney our Shetland pony is extremely cheeky and can be very stubborn. Shetland ponies normally live up to 35 years, they are extremely greedy creatures and very often become ill due to eating to much, Chesney is on a very strict diet otherwise he will become very lame. These ponies are very hardy and can withstand extremely cold temperatures without the need of any additional coats, it's vital that they have a shelter to protect them from the wind and rain. Chesney will be given his favourite treat on Christmas Day - that's two Extra Strong mints. Longdown farm facts: Believe it or not, Pigs are one of the cleanest animals on the farm they keep their bedding area clean and dry. Pigs do not have many sweat glands like most of our animals and humans just a few small glands which doesn’t help them sweat so that’s why they like roll in the mud. Also this helps to remove fleas and ticks which may get on them.

Longdown Facts: Evie cow is a typical Holstein dairy breed she weighs about 650kg consumes 20kg of hay a day drinks between 30 and 70 litres of water each day. She is due to have her calf early next year.
