You having control of your dog is not only important for safety but also for you to enjoy spending time with your dog. Knowing your dog will remain calm and under control can make your walks and being in any social settings far more relaxing and enjoyable.

Just a small handful of dogs here from our classes on lead and off the lead around distractions of other dogs and people looking happy, calm and under the control of their owners, all of whom have put great effort into training their dogs!

All classes are bookable through our website or get in touch via 02380 736000.

* The problem with fixed duration puppy & obedience courses! *

• Work patterns often vary so owners can struggle to commit to the same time each week.
• Dogs on a fixed course get used to the same dogs’ week in week out.
• 6 weeks is often not enough for a dog to learn fundamental skills like heelwork or recall.
• Courses are taught on a set tick box curriculum whereby trainers skip from one exercise to the next without ensuring all dogs have achieved the necessary standard.
* Often held indoors which does not provide the necessary distractions during training.

Each week we run a different type of session at the same day/time in our open air training canopy.

Our progressive rolling classes allow owners to attend any class on a day that suits them, whilst still learning all the necessary skills at a pace that suits both dog and owner. Any class can be repeated if the owner feels they need more training on a specific exercise such as heelwork by targeting those sessions on our timetable. All sessions are progressive with continual evaluation of what is required to achieve success. Like children, dogs learn at different paces and some take longer to learn certain skills. The open sessions are also much better for the dog’s socialisation as they are constantly meeting different dogs and people.

Our Kennel Club accredited and highly qualified trainers have many years of hands on experience, having taught many thousands of dogs and can tailor training sessions to help even the most difficult of dogs. Our facilities are purpose built and conducive to providing the best environment to train your dog.

Our training classes are designed for the necessary progression to work in real life situations such as lead walking, distraction and appropriate socialisation.

We run classes to help you progress regardless of your dogs current level of obedience and social skill. We then proof the training with real life walks in natural environments.

Can your dog stay calm in the presence of other dogs?

If your dog suffers from poor impulse control, obedience classes may be useful for you. We work a lot on dogs learning to be calm around distractions such as other dogs in our classes.

Group training walks🐾

We are now offering group walks for members of Hampshire dog club.

These walks will be fortnightly at 14:30 on Saturdays, lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours.

The walks will be overseen by one of our highly qualified trainers, just like our obedience classes.

Walks will be in different locations, details provided to those who book the session.

In order to do these training walks you must have completed some of our obedience classes at our facility as these walks are about putting into practise what we teach in classes.

If you are currently not a member but these training walks interest you, please register and attend some classes.

Despite what many posts say on social media - when a dog is reactive towards other dogs or humans, it is NOT because of their Prey Drive!

“Prey” - An animal that is caught and killed by another for food.

Dogs do not view each other, nor us as food. Dogs are reactive on leash for a variety of reasons; the most common by far is due to an anxiety of some kind, often fear, sometimes due to excitement (causing leash frustration) or even simply being protective of space or the handler. Very few dogs are purely aggressive.

Therefore, it is imperative that reactive dogs are correctly assessed and given appropriate behaviour modification training. Unfortunately, we see many dogs who have been previously misdiagnosed and therefore inappropriately trained when attempting to modify their behaviour. In many cases making the dog’s behaviour worse. For example, you cannot solve fear aggression by creating more fear and neither can you solve reactivity through total avoidance of the stimulus or by simply throwing treats around.

If you have a reactive dog, the sooner you seek help the better to avoid falling foul of the law. Please see our webpage for more information.

Welcome to the Hampshire Dog Club. Our purpose built 3 acre site is open 7 days a week. We deal with behavioural issues, specialist training, dog training for all ages & abilities. We have 2 secure exercise fields, an on site shop, agility field and ample parking. Located near Jct 3 of the M27.
