I recently received a very special gift from a very special kitty after his surgery for looking after him during his recovery πŸ’œ I am not too good with plants but I'm now educating myself so I can hopefully keep this plant alive and well for years to come!

🐾 An Update from HaddiPET's Homecare 🐾

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement and hard work as I have been setting everything up for HaddiPET's Homecare, and I can now finally unveil my catchment area!

Take a peek at the map - if you are located just outside the catchment area, fret not! I'm more than willing to travel that extra mile for your furry family members. Please note, an additional cost of 50p per mile will be applied for this extended service.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or special requests. I aim to be as accommodating as possible!

HaddiPET's Snippets

Today's snippet is all about my cat Harley. Harley is 9 years old and like Shansi and Hattie, rescued from terrible conditions in South Africa. His mother was poisoned when her kittens were 7 days old, and unfortunately she did not make it. The rescue organisation I worked with raised the kittens to 7 weeks of age, and that is when Harley came home. All three of them - Shansi, Hattie, and Harley, all came from the same area, all rescued by the same organisation. He has kidney disease, currently in Stage 4, so we don't know how long he has left but we are doing everything possible to ensure he remains comfortable and content. He was initially diagnosed when he was 4 years old and the vets believe it may have been caused by feeding from his dead poisoned mother before the litter was found and removed. He is a nervous cat, and flying him to the UK was nerve wracking but he came through it just fine and was back to his usual self 12 hours after landing at Heathrow. He remains on a strict kidney diet and receives daily medication for blood pressure, plus a potassium supplement. His best friend is Sierra, my German Shepherd, who will be the focus of the next HaddiPET's Snippet πŸ™‚

HaddiPET's Snippets

Today's snippet is about my dog Shansi. Shansi was rescued from a dump site in South Africa in December 2011, estimated to be 6 months old at the time. She was in terrible condition and very nearly dead due to starvation and over 1000 ticks attached all over her body. Her brother, who she was found laying next to, had already succumbed. The call came in the day after her rescue and I went to collect her, not knowing what to expect. She was so malnourished that she was unable to walk or lay down, I had to carry her everywhere and she slowly started regaining stamina after a few weeks of being fed every 3 hours on a diet of toast with pate, chicken and Royal Canin Recovery.

In February 2020 she had to undergo spinal surgery due to severe pain from damage from her past abuse. She came out of surgery completely paralysed but 4 weeks later she started to regain feeling and motion. She attended a gruelling rota of physio, water therapy, lazer therapy, TENS therapy and massage therapy for months following the surgery - and she walked again!

When I moved back to the UK in 2020, she was flown on my flight (with Hattie), while still in recovery. Due to covid lock down looming, I had no choice but to fly her when I did. She is still going relatively strong but her age is getting the better of her and she now requires a buggy but loves her car rides and outings. She is never left at home, instead we make sure to accommodate her with her buggy, even 4x4ing through the forest which often attracts a lot of attention 😁
