♡ Dental care ♡
We recommend brushing your pets' teeth to help prevent dental disease. The ideal time to start is when they are puppies or kittens so they get used to it. Start with gentle handling of the head and lips and then around 6 months you can introduce a brush and pet appropriate toothpaste. It's never too late to start, but if there is already dental disease, it's best to get it checked by a vet or nurse in case any issues need to be addressed first. Brushing will then be key afterwards to maintain dental hygiene.
This is Amy, our vet Kayleigh's kitten. She is 6 months old and her adult teeth are all through now. First she is introduced to the toothpaste. This one is called Anident; it definitely appears to win her approval! You can get it from us at Unicorn too. A very soft brush is being used (this one is Wisdom Sensitive but any soft brush will do) as it's more comfortable for them and the fine bristles clean well under the gum line). For the first time, we keep it brief with a reward afterwards but you don't need to spend long brushing to reap big rewards!
Well done Amy 👏
Happy brushing!
We love it when our little friends pop by, especially when it’s treat time! If you are ever walking/driving past, do pop in to get some treats and a quick weigh in with our reception team. This helps the pets we see with anxiety as they do connect it with just seeing the vet.

Why is a toothless dog like a tree?
It has more bark than bite 😂
Hector who was in with us earlier this week was showing of some of his tricks! So as it’s the end of the week we thought we would leave you and your pets with Hector.

This gorgeous little man is Bernard Bear who came in to have his second vaccine. He was really nervous of the nurses to begin with but after 5 minutes of playing with all 3 nurses his fears are gone and he has an addiction to liver paste. Well done Bernard Bear 🎄🐾
🎄 Keeping our pets safe this Christmas 🎄
Our wonderful team of Veterinary Nurses are now running Wellness clinics for adult and older pets.
These clinics will give your pet a full MOT and include a clinical exam, blood pressure test as well as blood and urine tests.
The clinics are for pets who are currently well.
It will provide an opportunity to screen for any underlying problems. So these can be treated earlier to prevent pets becoming poorly.
Please contact us for more information and to book an appointment. 💜🐾
