Our new flyers arrived today! Really excited to hit the pavement and start spreading the word that we’re open for business. We had been planning on getting started today, but todays biblical downpour put an end to that. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow 🌧️

Time to say hello!

It all started with an adopted greyhound named Tracy. After pining for a dog for years, I finally decided to take the plunge and find a companion to join me on my outdoor adventures. After much debate about breeds and the pros and cons of getting a puppy or rescue, I settled on Tracy; a 4 year old greyhound, recently retired from racing. Terrified of being outside and overwhelmed by even the smallest changes in her environment, Tracy struggled at first. Over time though, with patience and love, Tracy began to blossom. Outside time became her favourite time and her happy hops at the sight of her harness grew more bouncy by the day, until eventually she was happily trotting alongside me on hikes around the Dorset coastline. Seeing Tracy grow in confidence ignited a passion in me. I buried my head in books and learned all that I could about canine behaviour. Determined to provide unforgettable experiences to as many dogs as possible, I started to offer to take the dogs of friends and family with me on my trips. Seeing how much joy these dogs got from being in nature and the difference that this created in their behaviour at home led me to quit my job as a teacher and establish Wandering Pooch!

I’d never say we have favourites at Wandering Pooch… but Dottie definitely has a special place in our hearts. Never met such a gentle giant before. Here she is loving life in some long grass in the New Forest

Molly joined the gang again this morning. We took her for a roam around Canford Cliffs beach and, based on that smile, I think it’s fair to say she enjoyed it!

Today we took full advantage of the forgettable weather by taking Lee (one of our regulars) down to the beach. Lee struggles when there’s too many dogs outs so the beach is often out of bounds. The rain meant it was deserted though, so Lee got a good old run around on the sand and plenty of new smells to enjoy. Just what the doctor ordered!
