It is with much sadness that we let you know of the unexpected passing of Kathryn Davies – one of our Branch Partners and trusted vets at Southend 24hr hospital.

Graduating from Glasgow Veterinary School in 2005, Kathryn spent a year working in Yorkshire before moving to Southend. She joined the local small animal hospital for 7 years before taking some time out to travel the world. In 2013, Kathryn became an integral part of the team at Medivet Southend, initially working as an assistant vet before becoming a Branch Partner in February 2014. Kathryn was an Advanced Practitioner with certificates in Endosurgery and Diagnostic Imaging. She has played an instrumental role in making the hospital what it is today.

Kathryn wasn’t just a talented Veterinary Surgeon, she was an amazing Mum to her two children, a loving wife, caring sister, cherished daughter, a colleague and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the many patients and clients at our practice that she cared about deeply.

We know this will be a great shock to those of you who knew Kathryn, and we appreciate your support as we come to terms as a team with our loss. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.

If you wish to remember Kathryn, her family have asked for donations towards The Dogs Trust or Young Minds.

A black female, domestic short haired cat was handed into us yesterday, no microchip or collar. Seems to be an older cat. Has a shaved abdomen possibly from a recent ultrasound and a shaved leg from an intravenous catheter. Found just off of Eastwoodbury Lane towards the airport. Please contact us on 01702 526666 if she may be your cat as we are trying to find her owners.

🎆🎆🎆This is a notice to all our clients in the Southend area…it looks like there will be fireworks starting this weekend.🎆🎆🎆

This seems pretty early so we wanted to give any clients that might need some advice or medication time to come see us!

❤️We understand that firework season can be a particularly stressful time of year for some pet owners and their pets. If your pet struggles with anxiety/fear around fireworks we will try our best to help them! ❤️

🦷 Lucille came in for a dental today. She had some inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) and had dental X-rays to better assess her teeth. 🦷

🦷 Dental X-rays are so important and help show the extent of disease below the gum line. The X-rays show various remaining roots and resorptive lesions (FORLs) which meant Lucille needed multiple extractions. She also had an extra tooth on her lower right side! 🦷

Lucille’s procedure went well and we will see her back in a few days for her first post-op check.❤️

This is Willow ❤️
Willow came in for a dental with our vet Jess last week. It was also her birthday 🎈 so her pawrents took her home with a new toy. She has since been back for her first post-op check and was doing well. See you soon Willow!
