25 years ago, on the 14th June 1999, was a momentous day for us at Ledbury Park Veterinary Centre - or Griffiths and Stoakes as we were then! This was Helen Coe's first day with us, she joined as our Head Veterinary Nurse and today, we are very proud to mark her Silver Anniversary with us!!🩶
Helen brought with her some exceptional nursing skills which made improvements to the practice, benefiting vets, nurses and our clients.
Her “can do" attitude has stuck with her all through her time at Ledbury Park - it is as strong now as it was then!

Helens role at Ledbury Park has changed over time and now, as our much loved practice manager, she has played a pivotal role in the changes the practice has needed, and has been an invaluable constant throughout.
Her skills were recognised at a dinner in Birmingham Town Hall with her well-deserved place in the finals of Pet Plan's ‘Practice Manager of the year awards’ in 2019, however, we already knew she was the best at her job!
Some of our wonderful staff that have now left us still keep in contact with Helen, which is one of the best accolades and we all appreciate her massive input.

Today, please take some time with us to appreciate all the hard work Helen has put into Ledbury Park over the last 25 years, and creating the practice which you all know and love!

Thank you again Helen – you are a star!🌟🌟🌟

🪰 ☀️ FLYSTRIKE IN RABBITS ☀️ 🪰

What IS Flystrike?

Flystrike is a painful and sometimes fatal condition caused by flies laying their eggs on another animal. These hatch into maggots, which eat into the skin of animals. All animals are at risk, but the condition is commonly seen in our pet rabbits.

🐰What can we do to monitor and prevent it?🐰

☀️As the weather is getting warmer, please check your rabbits at least TWICE DAILY to ensure they have clean bottoms and haven’t been affected by flystrike.

☀️Keep your rabbits well groomed, especially around the rear, to prevent droppings getting caught in the coat and attracting flies.

☀️Make sure your rabbits are getting the correct diet, mainly consisting of grass and fibrous material. Do not over feed sugary fruits/vegetables or pellets.

☀️If your rabbit appears to have mobility issues such as arthritis - take them into the vets for treatment. They may not be able to groom themselves efficiently, putting them more at risk.

☀️Keep cages clean, spot cleaning at least once a day.

☀️Apply a product such as REARGUARD which is very effective in preventing flies landing on your rabbit. It is a very effective topical treatment that lasts 10 weeks. We are happy to apply this treatment for you, just book in with our nurses!

We have recently seen some concern locally about "Alabama Rot" (Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy - CRGV).
The cause of this is still unknown, so our advice remains to walk your dogs, but wash any wet or muddy parts of them straight afterwards.
Please remember that although this is a really nasty disease, it is very rare. The leading experts in the UK are Anderson Moores vets - they have lots of useful information on their dedicated website (see below)

CRGV, known as Alabama Rot, is a rare but fatal disease affecting dogs. Anderson Moores are Alabama Rot veterinary specialists. Find out more.

Morning everyone. No doubt many of you have heard the news that the CMA has identified some significant issues around the pricing of veterinary medicines and treatment. We would like to reassure our clients that we remain a proudly independent veterinary practice, committed to providing professional skill, good value and great customer care. We believe that our prices are fair and we are always happy to provide an estimate for your pets' treatment. We also believe that communication is vital to maintain relationships between the practice and our clients, so please ask if you ever need us to explain anything!

Exciting news! We are installing a new computer system this week which will enable us to keep your pets' medical records more accurately and more easily accessible, go largely paper free and allow us to communicate more efficiently with you.
Unfortunately it does mean a little short-term upheaval. We will not be able to access our computers *at all* between 12 noon and 2pm on Monday 4th March, which means we can't make appointments, dispense medication or take payments during that period.
The new computer system will be rolled out on Tuesday 5th March, and although we have all completed our user training in advance of that, we will still be getting used to it!
We will therefore have a reduced number of available appointments this week and ask you please to bear with us over the transition period.
Thank you so much for your continued support! ❤️😊🐶🐱🐰🐭🐔🐾

Has anyone seen this little cat? Her owners really worried - they last saw her 4pm Saturday 24th Feb in the Poolbrook Road / Dukes Way / Three Horseshoes area of Malvern (but she is known to go further afield and may have climbed in a vehicle ). She's quite distinctive - no tail and currently sporting an unusual haircut. She's on treatment for severe arthritis and kidney and skin disease, and her owners miss her!
