We have caught up to Saturday and our first guests were Dizzy and Gus. Gus was a natural born swimmer like all labs (even if they don't know it). Dizzy has a neurological condition which causes accentuated head tilt but also loves swimming. She needed tender loving care as the condition is worse when she is excited, stressed, disoriented or tired and could roll in the water. By the end of the session she knew as soon as I had the handle of the life jacket it was time to go for a swim and nothing scary would happen. โค๏ธ๐พ
We had Little Legs Dogs Rescue back, this time Richard was joined by other friends including Vinnie. Vinny was a bit apprehensive at first and didn't like the ramp. However watch the video as you will see when you take the pressure off them and turn your back they take the leap. I personally think they don't want you to see them if they belly flop ๐คฃ
First time for 4 year old Kia. He loves swimming but had never seen a pool, he has now and has decided it's amazing ๐พ
Bubble loves his WOLF sessions with Dana, and she appreciates his gentle nature. The girls are meeting so many new friends who love water as much as they do, doggy heaven โค๏ธ๐พ
Back to the schedule, the return of Cooper. He is really getting the hang of it now and loves collecting his golden nuggets of treasure. His human brother and sister have learnt how to show him back to the ramp safely ๐๐พ
Slightly out of sequence of our recent visitors (they will all be added eventually) but had to post this little bit of fun to wash away the Monday blues. This does have a purpose, little Hugo doesn't like the ramp movement so getting him to balance on my back whilst I move and bob around helps build his core muscles, won't be long before he jumps in like his sister Coco โค๏ธ๐พ
I could say this was a WOLF session with our famous Buddy and the girls but we decided it was a Labradorable pool party ๐ฅณ๐๐พ
The return of sisters Willow and Blake. These girls just can't get enough. Willow's stamina is improving on walks and it is possibly down to her love of swimming ๐๐พ
Friends Rodney the 2yr old springerpoo (has been to a pool before) and Jonty the 9mth old cocker (never swam) had a blast. Jonty's confidence was boosted by the life jacket but I don't think he will need it for long next time ๐พ
โThanks for looking after Lola,Alfie and Bailey today, think you can say they really enjoyed..looking forward to our next visit xโ
8 year old Lemmy, who swam a little as a pup, now he is older he needs to learn to pick his bum up to stop the splash and be more dynamic. ๐พ
Didn't take Bonny and bonkers Maverick long to understand what the ramp was for ๐คฃ๐พ
2nd lesson for Poppy the Dachshund and Peanut the Chihuahua. Peanut gets tired quickly so we converted the toy basket into a floating platform. Poppy has learnt to enter and exit by herself ๐๐พ
The return of one of our regulars Jonjo. He is still a little tentative entering the pool, but is brave enough now to do so without mum, and happily swims along with the team. Just when you think he is getting tired and is going to return to the ramp he goes around for another go. Such I lovely sweet boy ๐พ
17 month old Coco, and brother, 13 month old Hugo enjoying their first experience of water. They are more poo than cock so their fur does make them candidates for feeling the cold easily. However neither dogs panicked when helping them in the water, they enjoyed the float and were able to swim out. A few more lessons and they should be happily entering the pool unaided, if we ensure the water temperature is comfortable for them ๐พ
We seem to have the lion share of Labradors, today favoured black. Zuzu liked water but had never seen a pool. It didn't take her long to feel confident in her surroundings ๐พ
13 year old accomplished swimmer Rooney and 3 year old non swimmer Sancho taking it easy. Rooney doesn't need the life jacket but it is easier to help him in the pool with one on. Sancho has never been near water but learnt to trust the float and by the end of the session had calmed his frantic swimming down to a trot ๐พ
Competition Winner Nicky with Daisy the Dachshund
Slightly out of order as we wanted to share the competition winner story. Daisy was a 15 month old non-swimming Dachshund. Watch her progress below to see how quickly she became a dock diving super star torpedo.
PJ Pet Photography, Pete, did an amazing job of capturing the moment. He prefers taking action shots to portraits and it was how we first met. Whilst we were attending an agility lesson, Pete was on site taking random shots. When we saw how he had captured the joy in both the humans and dogs faces it was priceless.
If you want to treat someone who brings their dog to Wagatha, book a session with Pete and let them treasure the moment forever โค๏ธ
Once the winner has chosen their shots Pete will send me a few to share as I personally think they are amazing - Tracy ๐พ
Then came handsome George. He had 5mins on his own learning to use the ramp then the girls came out to join him for a WOLF session. Fun had by all ๐พ
The return of our mature swimmers Mia and Lexi. Mum said she wished she could see their feet working underwater, so we obliged. Mia could be Dana's stunt double they are so alike โค๏ธ๐พ
