I've had the pleasure of looking after these three beauties for several years now and have always enjoyed my visits with them. Sadly, Louise and Brian have had to say goodbye to all three in the last eight months, culminating in them saying goodbye to Henny yesterday. To lose one pet is heartbreaking, but to lose three in a short space of time is devastating. I hope Louise and Brian take comfort in the memories and the fact that all three enjoyed fantastic lives.

I know how to do canine CPR in case any of my doggy clients ever need it but never thought I'd have to do it to my own girl!

Lucy started seizing today out of the blue and I initially thought she was choking on something. I checked her airways and they were clear but she didn't appear to be breathing so I did breaths for her. I thought we'd lost her but she suddenly came around, jumped up and started looking for her lunch!

The vet checked her over, she's had blood tests and is on medication for a few days. It may have been a one off or she may have more fits that need investigating. I asked the vet if she would have stopped breathing or if they were just so shallow I couldn't see them. He said probably, as she recovered so quickly, she was still getting oxygen and her breaths were too shallow to see. He said if it was him in the same situation he would have given breaths too just in case.

He said...ABC...Airway check first...Breaths if you can't detect breathing and then Compressions if needed.

What a scary time.

I'll be adapting my walks for the next few weeks while we've got the hot weather. Early morning walks will be done in shady areas and then walks will be changed to garden visits as the day gets hotter. The safety of your furry friend is my priority.
