🎄 Christmas Toy Warning for Small Animals 🐰🐹🐹
(Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters & other small pets)

Not all toys sold for small animals — or given as festive gifts — are safe. During Christmas, vets see many preventable injuries and emergencies in small pets.

🚫 Toys & Items to Avoid
• Plastic toys – easily chewed and swallowed, causing blockages
• Painted or varnished wood – toxic if chewed
• Glue-heavy toys – can cause poisoning or gut issues
• Fabric, fleece or stuffing – risk of intestinal blockage
• Treated pine or cedar – harmful to respiratory systems
• Exercise balls – stressful and can cause injury
• Cheap wire toys – can trap feet or cause cuts

⚠️ Why This Matters
Small animals have:
• Extremely delicate digestive systems
• Constantly growing teeth
• Little ability to recover from blockages or toxins

Even a small mistake can become fatal very quickly.

✅ Safer Alternatives
✔️ Untreated natural wood chews (apple, willow, hay-based)
✔️ Cardboard tubes and boxes (plain, ink-free)
✔️ Hay toys from reputable brands
✔️ Supervised enrichment rather than novelty toys
✔️ Plenty of fresh hay — the safest “toy” of all

🎁 When gifting for small animals this Christmas, simple is safest.
If it can splinter, stretch, or break apart — it doesn’t belong in their enclosure.

🐾 Always supervise new toys and remove anything that starts to break down.

Please share — this could save a small life this Christmas ❤️

🎄 Christmas Cat Toy Warning: Not All Toys Are Safe 🐱

Cats love new toys, especially at Christmas—but some common items can be very dangerous and lead to emergency vet visits.

🚫 Cat Toys & Items to Avoid
• String, yarn & ribbon – can cause life-threatening intestinal blockages
• Tinsel – highly attractive to cats and extremely dangerous if swallowed
• Feathers glued onto toys – often pulled off and ingested
• Small bells or beads – choking hazard
• Laser pointers (used alone) – can cause frustration and stress
• Cheap plastic toys – can break into sharp pieces
• Hair ties & elastic bands – a common cause of surgery in cats

⚠️ Why This Matters
Every Christmas, vets see increases in:
• Intestinal blockages
• Choking incidents
• Mouth and gut injuries
• Emergency surgeries

✅ Safer Alternatives
✔️ Toys made specifically for cats with secure parts
✔️ Wand toys used under supervision
✔️ Puzzle feeders and enrichment toys
✔️ Catnip toys from reputable brands
✔️ Regular toy checks and rotation

🎁 If you’re gifting for cats this Christmas, choose safety over novelty.
Many festive decorations and toys are fun—but not feline-friendly.

🐾 When in doubt, supervise play or ask your vet for guidance.

Please share—this could save a cat’s life this Christmas ❤️

🎄 Christmas Dog Toy Warning: Not All Toys Are Safe 🐾

With Christmas around the corner, many dogs will be unwrapping new toys and treats—but some popular items can be dangerous and even life-threatening.

🚫 Toys & Treats to Avoid
• Rawhide chews – can swell, cause choking, blockages, or stomach upset
• Cooked bones – splinter easily and can perforate the gut
• Rope toys – loose strings can be swallowed and cause intestinal damage
• Soft plastic or vinyl toys – can break into sharp pieces
• Tennis balls – abrasive to teeth and a choking risk for strong chewers
• Antlers & very hard chews – common cause of cracked or broken teeth
• Stuffed toys with squeakers – many dogs swallow the squeaker once removed

⚠️ Why This Matters
Every Christmas, vets see an increase in:
• Choking emergencies
• Intestinal blockages
• Broken teeth
• Emergency surgeries

✅ Safer Alternatives
✔️ Rubber toys designed for chewing (KONG-style)
✔️ Supervised enrichment toys
✔️ Natural chews appropriate for your dog’s size
✔️ Treats made specifically for dogs, in moderation

🎁 If you’re gifting dog toys this Christmas, please choose wisely.
What looks harmless on the shelf can become an emergency overnight.

🐶 When in doubt, ask your vet or choose toys designed and safety-tested for dogs.

Feel free to share—this post could save a life this Christmas ❤️
