For all our Beloved Dogs safety this evening - Guy Fawkes Night. Please keep your beloved Pets safe and secure in your homes, just in case there is a random firework that goes astray! Our own Beloved Rudy Mental - Labrador, is safely tucked up in our home this evening. Rudy has a doggie door flap and is sitting with his body in the house and his head out the door, watching the fireworks and barking at the loud bangs with his tail wagging. We, as owners, chose, when he was a new-born, to sit on the back step with him in our arms and encouraged him to look at the lovely display and not be scared of the loud Bangs. This has worked well all the way through his 11 years, during Guy Fawkes and New Years Eve and has ensured he is not stressed by any of this. Be safe beloved Fur Babies. Love, Donna and Andy XX

Today, it was with great honour and joy, we welcomed this lovely Young Lady – Kyra - to TLC Grooming to introduce her to “our” Dog Grooming Service at TLC Grooming. Kyra is studying Animal Management at Stamford College and would like to see first hand all services that are supplied within the industry with regards to the care of animals, so she can make an informed and educated decision about what career path she would like to take in the future.
We actively encourage all caring people to study and work towards caring for our beloved Pets, now and in the future! Please note: This was not Work Experience, only a visit to view, spend time talking about a grooming session that not only involved more than one dog at a time, but dogs with specific physical and mental health requirements, as well as size.
We chose Donald and Millie to be her experience, as they are extremely large dogs, are the most loving and gentle of “beloved creatures”. The owners authorized this prior to Kyra’s visit. During this time, we advised of her of: Our Training versus Experience, Health & Safey, Legal requirements, Government Legislation, Insurances, Medical Issues that are encountered during a Grooming Session, and the consequences of your actions when dealing with a Doganimal in your care.
It was a lot for her to take in over a 3 hour Grooming Session, as myself and Andy did not stop Grooming whilst talking to her, but we sincerely hope we have given Kyra a very positive experience to support her in her decision as to what type of Animal Care she would like to do when she leaves her current Education.
We have invited her to return for another grooming session at TLC Grooming, for a Rescue Dog that is Blind and Anxious, so she can see how to handle a beloved Dog with these special needs.
We hope you like our story, and the photos.

Today’s wonderful grooming challenge. Health & Wellbeing Groom. It is with great honour and joy we welcomed this 9-year-old, gentle Tibetan Mastiff to TLC Grooming for a “Health & Wellbeing Groom”. Her owners rescue multiple dogs of different breeds, and work with us to ensure the Health & Wellbeing of all their Fub Baby Family. Today was a work in progress as she will need to return for her second session, as 3.5 hours is long enough for any dog to have to endure being clipped, tugged, bathed and dried! She was amazing and very calm and relaxed.
Our Storey: This lovely Tibetan Mastiff arrived Pelted. “Pelting” is a condition that happens with the fur is so matted and tangled, it must come off in once piece and pulls on the skin and doesn’t allow air to flow through which means fleas and ticks can be trapped on the skin. Also, if Pelting is not removed carefully, it can tear the skin and cause infections!
As a Groomer, removing Pelts is a challenge, as the hair is so tightly woven to the skin, we must be careful not to cut the dogs skin with the blades and is a huge risk! Also, this process is extremely uncomfortable in some areas of the dog, painful for them, so we are always considerate of this during the grooming process.
Today we are so happy to report that this lovely 9-year-old Lady left in much better condition than when she arrived. Her Pelted upper body, hind legs, hygiene area are now free! (She has left a “Stone” lighter than when she arrived and walks much better without the bulk of her Pelted hair.) We gave her two Shampoos and Conditioning Treatments, one of which was Aloe Vera to help her with her skin.
She will be returning for the second half of her Health & Wellbeing Groom, and we are so looking forward to this. She was so tolerant, and we gave her lots of breaks, treats and love during the time she was with us.
We hope you like our story, and the before, during and after photos.
Donna and Andy,

I hope you enjoy this story.

Please note: Newfoundland's - These breeds require a HUGE amount of care, brushing and grooming, in particular during the summer and as extremely large dogs, which require a great deal of time and work on behalf of the owners and their dedicated groomer, of which I am honoured to be the groomer.

Rogue - round two report of his grooming journey. (Never having been groomed before last week and 7 years old). Today, I am overjoyed to report that we had an even better result than Mummy or I thought could have been achieved on his second visit.

Today’s plan was to see how far Rogue would let me groom and bath him without any stress, as he suffers from anxiety.

I am delighted to report that Rogue not only allowed the clipping of his Hygiene area, hind legs, front legs, sc******ng of paws and even allowed a strong conditioning shampoo shower. (Although bottom firmly on the floor of the shower, tee hee). To our stunned amazement, he even let me dry 80% of his body with the blast dryer, with no stress. Huge result for a dog that suffers from "anxiety"!

Midnight came along for the journey and was seriously miffed that although I gave her a tidy trim, she was not happy not being groomed on this occasion. She even hopped in the shower asking if it was her turn? (She is a wonderful Diva and even posed for her Photo, so have to include her in this post ###)

I am so incredibly proud of Rumour and the acceptance of his grooming journey, and welcome continuing to care for his grooming needs now and going forwards, along with his fellow fur baby family members.

Love Donna ###X

What a lovely way to start back to TLC Grooming today. An all round amazing result! The wonderful Owner of multiple extremely large Breeds, who brings them to us in shifts for Grooming, brought Midnight for scheduled ongoing Grooming. (Matriarch of the Pack - New Foundland). Rogue (Bernise Mountain Dog) joined her today.

Today’s challenge was to attempt to introduce Rogue to the grooming process.

Please note: Rogue is by nature a very gentle soul. He is not aggressive, just very timid and easily scared, in addition, only likes females, and is bonded with his human mummy and currently only allows interaction mentally and physically with her. Therefore, the Expectation was a good brushing only.

It is with great joy that I report that Andy cared for Midnight (they are girlfriend and boyfriend and Midnight follows him everywhere, so lovely to see the bonding).

And I fell in love with Rogue! Yes, he arrived and virtually sat on his Mummies lap, showing signs of being extremely scared and anxious, until I gained his trust. To all of our astonishment, he then allowed me to brush and remove all the matts under his chin and neck which were extensive and skin deep. He then allowed me to use the clippers under and between his pads, and up his legs to the elbows.

Whilst Midnight had her Spa Shower, we gently showered Rogues feet, to show him there is nothing to be scared of, and he accepted this with no stress. When Blast Drying Midnight, Mummy and I used the Dryer on Rogue and he accepted this too.

At the end of the Grooming day, Rogue allowed me to give him treats by hand, he gave me kisses on my face, separated himself from his Mummy for a very short time, and allowed me to walk him out to the car on the lead with absolutely no pulling! So proud of this lovely Boy!

All in all, an amazing positive day of Grooming and more than I could of wished for.

We hope you enjoy our story, and the before and after photos. Love, Donna and Andy, TLC Grooming.
