Raw and Proud
Becoming disillusioned with the bland, unappetising looking food we were feeding our pets, we decided to research an alternative diet. Some of our family and friends were talking about feeding raw, and after researching on the internet we discovered several groups discussing BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) and how it had improved the health, coats and lives of many of their pets. We researched some more, read many books and decided to โtransitionโ or change our own four-legged friends to this diet, which letโs face it was always fed prior to the promotion of commercially produced food.
Following advice from a fantastic group of like-minded owners on Facebook, we began with the DIY route which meant green tripe and then introducing different proteins, bones and offal for a complete and balanced diet. We only had one dog then, Angus, who was no problem, wolfing it down like heโd not eaten anything quite so tasty before; our cat, JT, was slightly more stubborn, refusing to eat much of what we put down, but after weaning him off dried cat treats, he was soon enjoying his mealtimes too. When we introduced Freddy to the family at eight weeks old, we weaned him onto raw straight away and he loved it!
This way of feeding is becoming more popular and we would like to bring more options for pet owners in our area to buy for their own dogs and cats as South Lincolnshire does seem to be lacking in choice.
There are many great companies that also produce โcompleteโ raw dog food, to make it easier for the customer if you donโt like the thought of ensuring you prepare a balanced meal; these include all the essential nutrients your pet needs. You can buy these from us as we will be stocking a selection of these packs of frozen raw dog or cat food. Everything is done for you and you too can say you are Raw and Proud!
