Merry Christmas to all our four legged friends and their families from all of us here at the kennels.. 🐾😊🎄🎅
All our Christmas guests have had their turkey dinners, Christmas presents and special treats. Lunchtime snoozes are in progress before afternoon dinner and exercise.

Great news 😁 we are hiring.

We are recruiting for a full time Kennel Assistant to join our team here at Greenpeace Kennels. Any potential candidate must be comfortable working with both large and small breed dogs.

We are also recruiting for a part time position to work every Saturday. This position would be ideal for students studying small animal care. Additional.hours will be available during peak periods

36hours per week over 4 days including weekends and Bank Holidays. Additional hours to cover colleagues annual leave/sickness and busy periods

The ideal candidate will have an ofqual regulated level 3 qualification in kennel care and management - (training will be provided for the right candidate if required)

The role.entails the following duties;
Cleaning - kennels and common areas
Feeding
Administering medication
Exercising dogs
Booking dogs in
Taking payments
Basic administration
Basic maintenance

This is a physically demanding role and as such any potential candidates need to have a moderate level of physical ability.

Key skills;
Honesty
Integrity
Empathy for dogs
Good communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative
Flexibility

This article was originally released during my time as Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Newbury.

Dogs Trust is offering advice to dog owners to help pets who might be scared by the unexpected bangs and bursts of fireworks.

At this time of year we are remembering. I had this tattoo earlier this year for several reasons.

Remembering fallen and injured friends from my time in service and conflicts before and since.

As a former Army dog handler I have not just red poppies but also purple poppies to remember service personnel and animals from conflicts.

The dog in the tattoo is Pax, one of the dogs some of my friends will remember from Waterbeach.

Pax was also the first part of an amazing journey I have taken in life. I didn't have dogs growing up and Pax is the first dog I had a connection with and responsibility for. Pax also taught me that dogs are sentient beings and about their intelligence and joy they can bring. Pax had a special trick that some on here will remember 😆. My journey with Pax ultimately brought me to where I am today owning my own boarding kennels. At this time of year I think of him although he is long gone. My first dog, a breed I have loved ever since and a breed I will always have as my canine companion.

Remember the service personnel, remember the service animals.

At the going down of the sun, we will remember them.
