Today we welcomed the very beautiful Nala to our Paws4fun pack. Nala is such a happy little girl and she has brought us lots of sunshine today so she can definitely come again 😂. Bella, Hugo, Bob, Lester, Callie, Reggie, Ernie. Penny & Barney have been busy making sure she feels welcome. It’s always an exciting time for us and the pack to welcome a new dog and it’s a privilege to look after such a gentle soul like Nala, she has settled in really well and her kind nature is amazing ❤️, what a gorgeous girl.

It’s been 3 yrs since I started out with an idea to develop a business that followed my passion for dogs and put me into a position where I could be my own boss. One of the first dogs in our early days of Paws4fun was Bobby and like many others we are thrilled that he is still with us 3 years later. We welcomed the very beautiful & excited Leita today. She is a gorgeous Belgian Malinois and has been making some great new friends in our Paws4fun pack. Believed to have originated in Malines in Belgium the Malinois is a short haired variety of the Shepherd Dog. Like its fellow breeds it is a natural guard dog. With responsible training the Malinois socialises well and they make a fantastic loyal companion. Today they are often used as general purpose dogs within the police and military and are renowned for their intelligence and ability to adapt to new roles. Constantly vigilant they definitely need a job to do and at Paws4fun we love keeping our pack busy with lots of physical and mental excercise. Today we welcomed the very beautiful Peanut to our doggie daycare. As we highlight our dog of the day series, today has be the Dalmatian. Peanut has been so excited today making some amazing new friends including Melvin who couldn’t believe his luck at being joined in the pack by another Dalmatian. They are a playful and easy going breed and need plenty of exercise and persistent training. Dalmatian’s were particularly popular during the early 19th century and know as the “carriage dog” as they were trained to run under or beside horse drawn carriages and fire engines, often travelling long distances. The only spotted dog breed, the Dalmatian is intelligent, friendly, outgoing and make for excellent companions. They do have bags of energy and can be stubborn, so new owners need to dedicate time to training and exercise. They range in height from 56 to 61cm, weigh 18 to 27 kg and have an average life span of over 10 years. They are typified by a liver coloured nose, high set drop ears which taper to a rounded point, round cat like feet with well arched toes, a short dense glossy white coat, tall tapers from the base to the top and their black spots are round and well defined. Our dog of the day today is the miniature poodle. Bred down from the standard poodle are three other sizes of poodle, the toy, miniature and medium. The smaller varieties have always been companion dogs, and were popular in the French court between the reign of Louis XIV and Louis XVI. They are highly intelligent, extrovert and have a natural talent to seek out fun 🤩. We have two miniature poodles in our current pack, Reggie & Ernie, both are energetic, playful, affectionate, and eager to please. As a non shedding dog they also help with the house work 😂 and are good for allergy sufferers. The miniature poodle is normally 28-38cm tall, weight 7-8kg and have an average life span of 12 years. Today we start our dog of the day series where we highlight & talk about a breed. Today it’s the turn of the Beagle. One of the most popular scent hounds, beagles are active, happy go lucky and amiable. We are lucky enough to have had a few beagles within our pack and love the fun they bring to our daycare. Their average life span is about 13 yrs, normal adult weight about 9 to 11kg and 33 to 40cm tall. Beagles have a long history dating back to the 16th century onwards. Originally bred to hunt hare and rabbit the standard breed became recognised in the 1870’s. Today we see them being a fantastic companion dog but they are also used in law enforcement to sniff out drugs, explosives, and other illegal items. They are fantastically scent driven and in lots of our training we tap into this trait. They are easy to train (mostly) and do best with an owner who combines fondness with firmness and clear leadership. Great with children they make fantastic family pets. The British bulldog had a legendary refusal to let go of an adversary but today has a mellower reputation as a good natured and lovable companion. They can have a stubborn streak and protective instincts and need handling with care. The French bulldog also makes for a excellent companion but has few boundaries.
