Today we continue our highlighting our pack series with the amazingly beautiful Bella. Bella is a beagle spaniel cross which brings all the very best of the two incredible breeds in one little pocket rocket full of life, energy, fun & playfulness.

Bella has been with our pack for the past four years and like many of our long timers it’s been an absolute pleasure to see her grow and mature into the beautiful girl she is today. When i pick Bella up in the mornings she cannot wait to get straight into the van without even a look back to say goodbye to mom & dad. She is definitely the first in the queue for cuddles and if you’re lucky enough to get one of her very special kisses you’ve definitely earned her trust. There is nothing like a Bella cuddle but you have to be prepared for a very long one 😂! If there was a championship for cuddling Bella would get a gold medal every time.

One of her favourite walks has to be Ilam Hall and the quieter parts of Dovedale, she just loves to get away from the crowds and explore the countryside. If you get to be Bella’s best friend you’re in a privileged group as she only likes to pick the very best. One of the things I love about Bella is her independence & the love of a quite life, she has that ability to give you the side eye if your not quite wanted & yet she craves the love and affection of her friends.

At home time she loves to tell everyone what a fabulous time she’s had with a quick check back to say thanks and goodbye before she rejoins her own family. Dogs like Bella give immense reward in my work & make the days full of love, fun and happiness. I could not wish for a better job!

Thinking about bringing a new puppy into your life?

Bringing a new puppy into your life is a big decision, humans tent to plan having a baby, purchasing a new car, buying a new home but we tend not to give as much consideration to the impact of a new pup. Dog behaviourists actively encourage new owners to consider and plan for the change & to decide whether the breed will fit into your lifestyle. Our puppy training considers you and your pup as individuals. We guide you through the three main stages of puppyhood and share our skills, tips, hints and knowledge that will be invaluable in building a fantastic relationship with your dog. So if you are thinking about getting a new puppy in the near future give us a call or WhatsApp on 0333 335 5833 or visit us at www.Paws4fun.uk to find out more about our one to one puppy training.

We have had an amazingly busy start to the year and this weekend is no exception with our behaviour training being fully booked.

Behaviour problems often occur when we as humans are not fulfilling our dog’s needs. So here are three quick tips to make sure you do.

Excercise
Is for the dogs body, make sure you give your dog appropriate physical and structured exercise. Remember the limits on how much you exercise pups in their development stages and older dogs in their later years.

Discipline
For the mind, give your dog rules, boundaries and limitations. These should challenge the dogs mind so the dogs has to think about what it needs to do. How does it fit into rules, what are its boundaries, are what are its limits. Your leadership is crucial here!

Affection
For the heart, making sure you are giving your dog affection when it’s calm or when it’s doing something you have asked it to do. Affection is a really powerful reward tool & we can use it to nurture our dog’s mindset. Make sure your dog’s body and mind are in the correct place before giving affection.

Dog behaviour training is not just about solving a problem, it’s also about improving your relationship with your dog and better understanding its needs. If you want that fantastic relationship with your dog or you want to find out more about our behaviour training and our award winning services call or WhatsApp us on 0333 335 5833, email us at [email protected] or visit us at www.paws4fun.uk

One of the biggest issues we see in our dog behaviour training is where owners have neglected their role in the 3 stages of puppyhood.

Stage 1. Follow state - 2 to 4 months. The most important stage where having just come from mom your pup is asking the question “who in this house am I going to follow”’. This is a critical psychological following phase in your puppies life, if you don’t show leadership as an owner your puppy won’t follow you!

Stage 2. Play phase. 4 to 6 months. This is the stage where your puppy starts to explore and learn about themselves, their body, where do I fit in? If an owner has missed stage one your pup will take the leadership role and take the lead in play! This is the stage where we want the dog to understand limits of play. (Leadership)

Stage 3. Explore phase. 6 to 8 months. Your dogs starts to explore the outside world. If you have not demonstrated leadership, your dog’s going to explore without you, potentially run off, ignore your recall and do its own thing.

So what is leadership? We can teach you this in our puppy training & behaviour sessions. We show you how to parent your dog & how to mimic the role of a mom dog & what they would do with their puppies. One of the things I absolutely love about running my business over the years is that I get to see many of our pack grow from tiny little pups into adulthood. Today we still have so many of the same dogs we started out with as well as getting to know our newer dogs inside out & growing older with them. It’s been amazing to see Woody & Buzz grow up and become such beautiful boys, they are so well behaved and so incredibly loving and full of fun and joy. As we enter into another packed year of our wonderful daycare & dog behaviour training world we will be telling their individual stories over the coming few months. When I talk about the dogs my friends and relatives always say I should write a book about them, they are all amazing individuals and we feel so lucky to be sharing their journeys.
