Matting, why is it bad? What does it do? Bit of an educational post incoming🌟

Matting can cause pain and discomfort by pulling on the skin, restrict blood circulation plus create breeding grounds for parasites and bacteria. They can also hide fleas and ticks.

It can also lead to skin infections and in severe cases can affect mobility or damage joints due to tight matts around the limbs.

To prevent matting we can brush and comb our dogs everyday or every few days. Ensure when brushing and combing you’re getting right down to the skin to prevent matts from forming, especially after walks or activity.

If anyone wants any help being shown how to brush and comb effectively do not hesitate to ask our groomers. We don’t judge and are always happy to help🪒🪮🤍

Without regular nail trimming, your pet can experience pain, discomfort and/or swelling from increased pressure when walking, running or playing😔

This can cause mobility issues, especially on older dogs, due to lack of traction on hard surfaces such as your floors at home🏡

Make sure to keep an eye on your pets nails, as a good at home tip, if you can fit a card under them, their nails are just fine!🥳

Here at Oaklands we ensure to trim all nails as short as we possibly can without catching the quick on every full groom we do, and your pups love us for it!❤️
