Elly holds a level 3 qualification and is working towards her teaching qualification. Amy Lees who is lead groomer has been at Rodbaston for a number of years, first as a student and trained to be a dog groomer there and was also a student-teacher at the college too. Over the years Amy has built up and run 3 animal-based businesses away from the college one of those being dog grooming. Amy is Leve

l 3 with Diploma qualified and also has PCET for teaching. Amy states that " Rodbaston has always been close to my heart and i could not imagine teaching anywhere else, i am extremely privileged to be in the position I am in now. I have been working alongside a master groomer for the past year which has allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge, therefore giving our students the best possible learning experience and I am looking forward to being part of the journey of the growth of Rodbaston Grooming Academy". Elly will be working alongside Amy within the salon, Elly has been at the college now for a short time but has finally become a full-time member of staff. Elly has 8 years of industry experience within dog grooming and has worked in various salons during her career. Elly is a very experienced groomer and very good with our learners, she is currently working towards her teaching qualification and while she does this she is fully supported by the college and salon. Elly states "she is very grateful to be in the position she is in now and is looking forward to supporting Amy in the day-to-day running of the salon, and giving the students valuable industry knowledge. I am also excited to be part of the growth of the salon.”

Your dogs will be in very safe and capable hands whilst visiting the Rodbaston grooming parlor. All grooming will be completed to a high standard and the dogs will be given breaks throughout the process.

So today was our final day of this academic year, we return in September. I am aiming to have the booking sheet up and running by next week so I will let you all know, messages will be answered as soon I have it sorted.
This year has gone so quickly and we have had such wonderful students and fabulous clients and beautiful furkids, thank you for trusting us with them.
I am having a well earned rest after a manic few weeks.
Thank you to you all for your patience, support and the recommendations, without you all we could not do what we do.

So that is us finished for the summer, I promised a student ages ago that if she passes her exams I would do a tiktok dance with her and she remembered so today Friday PM all got involved. I hope you enjoy this as we had so many giggles filming it.

I've just been sat looking what dogs are needed for completion of our assessments and they are as follows:
3 breed standards, ideal breeds mini Schnauzer, fox terriers, westies, springers, cockers, bedlingtons or any other kennel club recognised breeds that require clipping
4 handstripping breeds, ideal breeds border terriers, wire coated jack Russell's, Patterdales, wire dachshund or any other cross breed.
1 handstrip for the 24th PM.

If you have think you have a suitable breed or know someone who does then please message me with assessment clearly stated on the beginning of your message and please include pictures.
The grooms are free and it is vital we source the dogs for our students.

I am still in need of 7 handstripping dogs for next week.
Breeds suitable are;
Rough coated jack Russell's, Border Terriers, wire coated sausage dogs, or wire coated cross breeds.
These are the final few dogs needed for my level 3 assessments.
Please can you share this post, tag anyone with a suitable dog and comment on this post.

As you guys do not get to see the salon I thought I would share our new and improved salon complete with new hydrobaths.

I am so bad at taking photos for the page, but I did come across this absolute cutie on my camera roll. Stan is a little cocker spaniel who adores his big brother Doug the springer. They moved to the coast through the summer, but they still come to see us which we love! 🖤

This is so funny and so true 😂😂

Our Story

All staff who run the dog grooming classes are qualified teachers - meet them below:

Charlie has over 10 years of teaching experience in further education and is a qualified Level 2 City and Guilds Dog Grooming Assistant. Charlie has a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and has many years experience working with a variety of animal species and settings.

Laura has over 15 years experience as a practical instructor in the animal industry and has vast knowledge of a variety of species and their care needs. Laura holds a HND in Animal Management and is a qualified Level 2 City and Guilds Dog Grooming Assistant.

Sarah is a qualified Level 2 City and Guilds Dog Grooming Assistant and can also be regularly seen attending Kennel Club shows as a judge and showing her award winning Old English Sheepdogs.
