💚 The 2025 BHS Equestrian Access Strategy 💚

Our Equestrian Access Strategy aims to enable every horse rider and carriage driver to be able to ride or drive from their stable onto a safe network of off-road paths, and until that time, to be able to access those safely via the road network.

An access strategy is needed:
✔️ To improve the quality and connectivity of the riding and carriage driving network.
✔️ To increase the safety of equestrians by providing safe off-road access and routes.
✔️ To enable the horse industry to grow.
✔️ To increase the health and wellbeing of the nation – equestrian access benefits walkers and cyclists as well as equestrians.

Local Residents have recently been sent a pack from the Council regarding the tracks along Gorsty Lane and Sandy Lane. These tracks have been wrongly downgraded to Footpaths in recent years. I would actively urge all fellow Horse Riders who have historically used this path to get in touch with the Council to declare their interest in keeping this BOAT open to ALL users! We are currently fighting to maintain the status as a BOAT and therefore a Bridleway! This is in all our interests! These historical paths need Protected Status for the future generations to enjoy peaceful, quiet off road tracks! If you dont wish to contact him direct, please PM me your evidence and I will forward to David at the Council!

⛔BREAKING NEWS ⛔

The British Horse Society welcomes UK Government’s decision to abolish deadline to save vital off-road routes in England, after more than six years of lobbying for change.

We are hugely relieved to learn that the UK Government has today announced its decision to repeal the 2031 Cut-Off date. This means that thousands of rights of way across the UK will no longer vanish in seven years’ time, helping more people in the future to access the great outdoors and all the benefits this brings.

Mark Weston, Director of Access at The British Horse Society says: “Recent years have illustrated just how vital off-road access is for the safety, health and wellbeing of horse riders and carriage drivers, as well as walkers and cyclists.

The government’s intention to repeal the 2031 cut-off date is a huge step. Not only does it mean that our routes can be protected for future generations to enjoy and treasure, but it is also very important for the safety of the general public.”

Here at Lower Hatton Liveries we absolutely love our rambles! Even the horses enjoy adventuring in our beautiful countryside! We might not be world beaters, or the next show stopping success story but one thing is certain! Both horses and humans love the Great Outdoors here!😍
