The Animal Zone is located on the site of Rodbaston College and is home to over 750 animals! Our outdoor play area will also keep your young ones amused.

Rodbaston Animal Zone has over 750 animals to view with Animal Encounters and Feeding Sessions taking place daily. Pocket money treats are on hand in the shop and we have a well-stocked Visitor Centre, selling cakes, sandwiches and snacks for hungry adventurers!

This week is Guinea Pig Awareness Week! ππ
This yearβs theme is Nibble, Nourish and Thrive, and aims to raise awareness of the five welfare needs of guinea pigs (diet, health, behaviour, environment and companionship) as well as the importance of adoption and rehoming!
Here at the Animal Zone, we have 15 guinea pigs (11 girls and 4 boys) that you can find in our Rabbit & Guinea Pig House and pictured here we have Lola and Alice! π

Yesterday, some of our level 3 second year Animal Management students went pond dipping around campus! The students were practicing techniques and sampling methods for their wildlife and conservation module and could identify different pond invertebrates and fish they found!

Today is International Slow Loris Day! π
Here at the Animal Zone, we have two Pygmy Slow Lorises in our Nocturnal House, called Terrence and Uma! π

Lisa and Rach visited The Spires Care Home - Barchester Healthcare again this week for the residents to meet some of our animals including guinea pigs and one of our ferrets! There's a couple of photos in here ππΈπ
Over the summer holidays, you may have seen construction of a new building taking place here at the Animal Zone. We are very excited to be opening a brand-new aquatics room, state-of-the-art quarantine facilities for our animals, and classrooms for our first ever T-Level Animal Management and Behaviour students, later this year! ππ©βπ«ππ

At the college, we deliver nationally-recognised qualifications in Animal Care from entry level all the way up to a BSc Degree, and you will join us here on the Animal Zone to develop excellent hands-on practical skills!

We are looking to employ a dynamic, energetic, and enthusiastic Visitor Centre Assistant! Successful applicants should have relevant vocational experience, demonstrate their ability to deliver outstanding customer service, and either already hold or work towards a Level 2 in Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering.

It was amazing to welcome Leah-Rose and her sister Izzy to the Animal Zone recently for a Junior Keeper Experience with keepers Chloe and Harry! We are so glad that they both had the best time and that we were able to be a part of creating wonderful memories for them! ππ
It was great to be part of the South Staffordshire College Vet Nursing CPD Day today at Rodbaston! π
We welcomed visitors up to the Animal Zone for βAn Introduction into Exoticsβ workshop, which included a presentation from Lisa and some practical reptile handling and restraint techniques with Beth! ππ¦π’
The groups finished their time with us by having a tour around the zone! π
